Chapter 68: Burning With Jealousy
Roman’s POV
Time seemed to slow as every pair of eyes in the room turned toward her.
Damn.
Nothing could have prepared me for the woman approaching the table.
She looked gorgeous. Radiant. Like the stars had descended just to illuminate her. Like she’d walked straight out of every filthy fantasy I’d ever had and into my boardroom to torture me.
She wore a short red dress, professional enough for the office but bold and daring. The kind of thing Anna would have never dared to wear. The kind of thing that made every man in the room sit up straighter.
It hugged every curve of her body, the fabric clinging to her hips and waist, accentuating everything I’d been trying not to think about. The hem stopped mid-thigh, showing off those long, toned legs that I’d imagined wrapped around me.
My eyes trailed down, taking in every inch. The way the dress moved with her. The black heels that made her legs look even longer, and made me think about her wearing nothing but those heels in my bed.
Her hair flowed in all its glory, loose and soft, falling down her shoulders in waves.
Her makeup was flawless. Smoky eyes that made her gaze even more striking, lips painted a deep shade that matched the dress.
Heat shot through me, sudden and fierce, pooling low in my gut and shooting straight to my desire.
I remembered how her lips tasted when I kissed her, soft and sweet and addictive. I remembered the way she gasped when I touched her. The way her body responded to mine.
I fought back the thoughts, masking my expression with a scowl.
But then I noticed Laurent’s eyes following her every move, his gaze trailing down her body with obvious appreciation, lingering on her legs, on her curves, on everything that belonged to me.
My hands balled into fists under the table. I wanted to gouge his damn eyes out.
Anna hurried toward the table, her cheeks flushed.
I could sense how shy she was and how bold all at once, like she was both embarrassed and determined to own the moment. Like she knew exactly what she was doing to me. To every man in this room.
I caught her eye and signaled to her. She nodded and began walking to meet me.
I leaned in slightly, keeping my voice low as I spoke to Michelle. “Thank you. Anna will take it from here. But please stay. I’d like you present.”
Michelle understood immediately. She smiled, rising from the seat beside me, and moved to an empty seat at the end of the table.
Anna approached, sliding into the seat Michelle had just vacated.
Right beside me.
As she settled into the chair, leaning forward slightly to arrange the documents, her cleavage became visible. The neckline of the dress dipped just enough that I could see the soft swell of her breasts, the way they pushed up against the fabric.
My mouth went dry.
I remembered swirling my tongue around her nipple, aching and begging as she moaned my name. I remembered the taste of her skin. The way she arched into my touch.
Get a grip. Get a damn grip.
I leaned closer, my breath brushing against her ear as I inhaled her scent, noticing immediately that this time it
was different. Not soft but bold, sexy, intoxicating It awakened instant desire, making my blood run hot,

making it impossible to think about anything but her.
Finally, I found the will power to whisper.
“Are you fucking kidding me?”
She trembled under my breath, her body responding to my proximity even as I tried to focus on her eyes instead of her body. But she wouldn’t look at me. Wouldn’t give me that connection I needed.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Blackwood,” she whispered back, her voice barely audible, shaky.
Sorry. She was sorry, like that could fix anything.
I wanted to bend her over this table right here, right now, in front of everyone. I wanted to make her understand exactly who she belonged to. I wanted to mark her so Laurent would stop looking at her like she was his for the taking. I wanted to hear her moan my name until everyone in this building knew she was mine.
But I forced myself to stay calm. To keep my voice steady even as every instinct screamed at me to claim her.
“We’ll talk about this later,” I murmured, my voice low and rough, dripping with promise, with warning. “Don’t think for one second you’re getting away with this.”
Just then, Laurent’s drawl interrupted whatever she was going to say. “Anna. Fashionably late, I see. Though I must say, the wait was worth it. You look absolutely stunning.”
Anna’s cheeks flushed deeper as she glanced up briefly. “Apologies to everyone,” she said quickly, her voice breathless. “Family emergency.”
I tensed, hearing she had an emergency. Worry crept in despite my anger, despite the jealousy burning through
What could it be? Did Drago come looking for her? Was everyone safe? Was she in danger?
I looked at her, searching her face for answers, needing to know she was okay. But she looked dropping to the documents in front of her.

Maison waved a hand dismissively. “C’est compréhensible. These things happen. No one can control family matters. Don’t worry yourself over it.”
Laurent leaned forward, his expression shifting to one of concern. So damn transparent. “An emergency? Is everything all right now? Has it been sorted?”
Who did he think he was? Acting like he was her knight in shining armor. Like he had any right to offer her help. Like he could swoop in and be her savior. Like he had any claim to her whatsoever.
Jealousy burned through me, possessive and primal.
She’s mine. Mine. Not his. Not anyone else’s. Mine.
Anna’s eyes met mine first, as though asking for permission. As though she needed my approval and understood, on some level, exactly what was happening here.
My gaze was fiery, burning into hers, making it crystal clear she had to turn down whatever foolish offer Laurent was making her. She had me. She needed no one else.
