Book6 Chapter12.
Luca and I left together, while Ryan continued to yell at us from behind.
I didn't look back.
I had given him too many chances; my heart was completely closed off to him.
I thought my cold demeanor would make Ryan leave.
But he not only didn't leave, he found my address and rented a place right next door.
The next morning, he even made me breakfast and brought it over.
I didn't open the door, but he said from outside, "Becky, I made your favorite breakfast, and I've left it by the door."
"You might not want to see me, but you need to eat. You've just had a procedure; you need to take care of yourself."
Suddenly, I remembered how shortly after we got married, my parents died in a car accident, and I was devastated.
At that time, I stopped eating and drinking, lying in bed crying, uninterested in everything.
He cooked for me every day and kept me company.
He said, "Becca, you need to eat. Your health is the most important thing."
"Although your parents aren't here, I'm here with you."
Ryan really was good at taking care of people, and he showed genuine concern.
But I knew very well that his heart wasn't truly mine.
By the afternoon, Luca sent me a message asking me to go out and paint. That's when I finally opened the door.
To my surprise, Ryan was sitting at my doorstep with a thermal food container in his arms.
Seeing me, he was overjoyed and quickly stood up.
"Becca, you're finally out. Please eat something; it's still warm."
The same person who had abandoned me so many times was now the one showing concern.
I really didn't understand what he was thinking.
"I'm not eating, Ryan. I'm asking you, please stop disturbing my life.
We're done."
"And you like Lana so much; why are you bothering me now?"
I looked at him.
He quickly tried to explain, "Becca, listen, there's really nothing between me and Lana. I don't like her."
"Those times I left you were because of her emergencies."
"Have you never thought about how coincidental that is?"
"I know now. She's been lying to me all along. She didn't attempt suicide, nor was she il."
He grabbed my hand.
"I'm with someone now. Luca is my boyfriend, and I need you to stop bothering me."
"Becca, you..."
He looked deeply hurt, his face full of pain.
"You used to say you loved me the most. You can't do this to me."
"I did say that before, but now we're separated. I have the right to move on."
I spoke calmly.
"Luca is better than you. He understands how to take care of me and, most importantly, he wouldn't abandon me for another woman."
"T'm sorry. I won't bother you again. Please, give me one more chance.
I'm begging you."
Ryan knelt in front of me.
I was surprised because, in my memory, he was always proud and never bowed to anyone.
That's why he didn't stay in Northridge when he left for the South.
"Ryan, even if you die in front of me, it's over between us."
With that, I walked over to Luca's side.
Ryan stayed kneeling, his eyes red as he watched me for a long time before leaving.
