"There are also some women who have smooth pregnancies from start to finish. Maybe you're carrying a little angel."
Amelia reassured her gently, saying, "Tomorrow, you can make an appointment and go to the hospital for a prenatal checkup."
After all, this was a modern age. There was no need to rely solely on pulse diagnosis like in ancient times.
A blood test and an ultrasound would make everything crystal clear.
"Okay. Thank you, Amelia. You're seriously my lucky star. Ever since I met you, it feels like nothing but good things have happened."
Seizing the moment, Nydia made her proposal formally. "I really adore you. Would you let me adopt you as my goddaughter?"
"Uh … when the baby's born, won't it be a little strange having a sister as old as me?"
"Strange? Not at all! The baby will be thrilled. How could they not be? With a sister as capable and brilliant as you?"
Nydia grabbed her hand and gave it an eager shake. "Come on, do me this favor. Accept me as your not-so-capable godmother."
"How are you not capable?" Amelia laughed helplessly, and in the end, unable to withstand her persistence, she nodded.
If the woman in front of her were truly incapable, she wouldn't have been able to expose the fake "Sabrina" so quickly with just a little guidance.
Not only was the imposter removed, but the real Sabrina had been found just as fast.
"That's wonderful! I have to pick a day and announce to the world that you're my goddaughter now. I'm just too happy."
Nydia was grinning from ear to ear, feeling as though two blessings had arrived at once.
Then she suddenly paused, a thoughtful look crossing her face. "Should we tell your mom first? Maybe get her consent before making it official?"
She knew the situation with the Nygards fairly well.
Emery's mental state hadn't been stable before, and Amelia had once cut ties with the Nygards entirely.
Now that they had reconciled and Emery had finally regained Amelia's forgiveness, she didn't want to make a rash move and make Emery feel like someone was stealing her child.
As much as she liked Amelia, she didn't want to create family conflict because of her.
If that happened, she would feel terrible.
Amelia's heart softened at her consideration.
She smiled, her tone confident. "Don't worry, Nydia. I'll talk to my mom.
"She treasures our relationship now … and she's always wanted more people to love and care about me.
"You treat me so well. If she knows, she'll only be happy for me. She won't misunderstand."
Thinking about the changes in Emery lately, a gentle smile touched Amelia's face. "Besides, you genuinely care about me. There's no hidden motive. My mom can tell the difference."
She paused, then added softly, "And having a thoughtful, caring godmother like you is a blessing for me too."
