Lev stared at the demon pinned to the ground by Yuan’s Swords of Eternal Torment, a dazed expression plastered on his face.
"Wait... pain? It’s painful?" he suddenly muttered, realizing the strange remark.
’He’s actually feeling pain?!’ Lev cried inwardly. ’But our pain tolerance is so high that even being thrown into a shredder wouldn’t make us feel anything!’
After allowing the demon to endure a few moments of agony, Yuan deactivated the swords’ ability and casually made a gesture with his hand.
In the next instant, the demon was lifted off the ground and dragged into the air—still impaled by the swords embedded in his body.
"W-What do you plan on doing with him?" Lev asked in a fearful voice.
"I’m going to use him to make our journey more smooth," Yuan calmly replied, refusing to elaborate.
"What have you done to me?! Let me go!"
Meanwhile, the demon struggled desperately to free himself from the swords. However, no matter how much he twisted or pulled, they refused to budge, as if they had fused with his body.
Seeing this, Yuan activated the swords’ ability once more.
"AHHHH!"
Agony surged through the demon’s body again, forcing another ear-piercing scream from his throat.
"The less you talk, the less painful it will be," Yuan said in a cold voice.
The demon wanted to cry but had no tears, and he reluctantly nodded in silence.
"Let’s continue forward," Yuan said to Lev, who was still trying to figure out what Yuan was planning.
A few hours later, Lev sensed another presence approaching them.
However, before he could even warn Yuan, a loud scream suddenly tore through the air, startling him.
He quickly turned toward the source of the scream, and sure enough, it came from the demon Yuan had captured and forced to follow them.
’Don’t tell me he’s—!’
A chilling realization crept into Lev’s bones the moment he understood why Yuan had dragged the demon along with them.
’He’s using him like a scarecrow... to drive others away!’ Lev cried inwardly.
Even though the demon attacked them first, Lev couldn’t help but pity him.
Sure enough, when the approaching presence heard the demon’s agonized screams and saw the dreadful sight of an impaled demon being dragged through the air, they immediately turned around and fled at twice their original speed.
However, they didn’t leave completely. Instead, they lingered at a safe distance, observing the situation with clear curiosity.
Using this method, Yuan and Lev were able to travel in peace for several months. Unfortunately, their strange spectacle had also drawn a growing audience of demons quietly following behind them.
"Who the fuck is that crazy bastard? He’s dragging Dune around while torturing him!"
"Do you think Dune is genuinely feeling pain, or is he merely acting for some reason?"
"I don’t know, but his screams are real enough to send shivers down my spine, no matter how many times I’ve heard them."
"Poor guy. I wonder what he did to offend that madman."
