"So? Did you learn anything?" Helena asked the moment Yuan emerged from his cultivation.
Yuan looked at her and slowly shook his head, "Unfortunately, there was too little for me to extract any meaningful information."
"What the hell? You spent half a year learning nothing?" Helena frowned.
"Well, this power is extremely complex. There’s a reason why only Eternals are capable of wielding it, I have only really just begun to study it." Yuan shrugged, defending himself.
Moreover, this was his first time encountering Eternal Essence that wasn’t in its purest form. When he fought other Eternals, they would only wield pure Eternal Essence.
’This either means there’s an Eternal involved who’s on an entirely different level from the rest... or that I’ve never truly witnessed an Eternal fighting at their full capacity...’
Since most of his fights with Eternals happened near the Nine Heavens, it was natural they wouldn’t be able to exert their full power.
’Now that I think about it, when I fought Deemo, the Demon God, it was also near the Nine Heavens because he approached me.’
When he really thought about it, Yuan realized that he’d never fought an Eternal that wasn’t near the Absolute Power’s influence.
This made him wonder what sort of hidden powers the Eternals might have.
"What now?" Selena asked him.
Yuan looked at Helena and said, "I can question Owen and ask to speak with the Eternal behind him, but that would require his presence, and I doubt you would let me meet him without any guarantees. How tricky."
Selena then said, "Angela, Helena, I think you can trust him."
"Seriously, Selena? You’re willing to trust a suspicious alien like him?" Angela muttered with a dumbfounded face.
"Although the time we’ve spent together wasn’t long, it is enough for me to trust him."
Angela looked at Helena, silently asking her what they should do.
Helena fell silent for a long moment before responding, "I am willing to let you meet with Owen if you swear not to attack him."
"Deal." Yuan instantly accepted
"Don’t even try to attack him, because the moment I sense even the slightest killing intent from you, I will kill you."
"Relax, if I say that I won’t attack him, I won’t."
Helena nodded.
"Then I will contact him right now."
She withdrew a communication jade slip—similar in function to those in the Nine Heavens, but forged from different material and bearing a different shape.
"Owen, come meet me," she spoke to him.
A few moments later, she received a respond.
"I know we just had a meeting, but Angela wants to speak with you. Also, don’t you dare question me again. If I tell you to meet, we meet," Helena responded to Owen’s response, sounding irritated.
"..."
After several minutes of silence, Helena spoke into the communication jade slip again, "Owen! How dare you make me wait! I don’t care if you’re busy, I am your priority!"
Yuan’s jaw dropped at Helena’s aggression, and he couldn’t help but wonder if this was how she usually treated others.
Owen’s reply came a few seconds later. As Helena listened, her entire body went rigid and her face went blank, dazed, as though she couldn’t believe what she’d just heard.
Suddenly, unfathomable killing intent exploded from her, shocking Yuan and the others.
"HOW DARE YOU! I SWEAR I WILL MAKE YOU WISH YOU WERE DEAD THE MOMENT I GET OUT OF THIS PLACE!" she roared into the communication jade slip, shattering it the next moment with a clenched fist.
"Helena?!" Selena cried out loud.
"What did Owen say to anger you that much?!" Angela hastily asked, as only Helena was able to hear Owen’s response.
Helena turned to them and explained, "That bastard Owen has betrayed us!"
"What?!" Angela’s eyes widened with disbelief.
"When I asked him to meet, he refused, saying that we’re no longer needed! That bastard even dared to tell us to rot in here for an eternity!" Helena’s killing intent surged again just recalling Owen’s unexpected betrayal.
"..."
Angela stared in stunned silence, as though she couldn’t believe her ears. Then, just like Helena, she erupted in fury and killing intent.
"That bastard Owen betrayed us the moment he obtained our blood!" she snarled, clenching her teeth so hard they shattered, blood spilling from her mouth.
Yuan watched the scene unfold, his brows lifting in surprise. Owen’s betrayal itself didn’t shock him, as he’d anticipated it’d happened sooner or later. What caught him off guard was how quickly it had come.
’So Owen’s purpose was not to free the Transcendents but to acquire their blood? What is he—or the Eternal going to do with their blood?’
He subconsciously turned around to see a handsome man hovering above him like a ghost who appeared out of thin air.
"Who the hell are you?!" Owen cried out loud as his heart skipped a beat.
"It’s been a while, Owen." Yuan said with a smile.
"You know me?" Owen frowned, trying to recall if they had ever met.
Though it didn’t strike him at first, he soon realized Yuan’s features looked strangely familiar.
"You don’t remember me? Then do you remember Dena?"
Owen’s eyebrows raised at the sudden mention of Supreme Ruler Dena.
He spent a good chunk of his life by Supreme Ruler Dena’s side as the Supreme Adviser, so there was no way he’d forget about her.
"Wait a second!" Owen’s eyes started to widen, almost as if he realized something.
"Y-You! You can’t be!"
"Oh? Have you finally recalled?"
Yuan descended onto the island, standing only a few meters away from him.
"You’re that Demon Sealer from the other world! Tian Chenyu! But that’s impossible!" Owen exclaimed in disbelief, subconsciously walking backwards.
He continued, "The gateway to your world was sealed, and you definitely returned to your world at that time! How did you come back?!"
"Does it really matter how I returned?"
Owen fell silent. Then, with narrowed eyes, asked, "No, it doesn’t. However, why are you here? Is it a coincidence? Or are you looking for me?"
The chances of Tian Chenyu returning to their world and coincidentally running into him were slim to none, so Owen quickly assumed he had come for him on purpose. Yet he couldn’t fathom why someone like Tian Chenyu would seek him out, as they’d barely interacted in the past.
"You really don’t know? Take a moment to think about it," Yuan calmly said.
Owen pondered for a moment before a look of realization flashed across his face.
"Are you here because of Supreme Ruler Dena? If you’re looking for her, she’s at the Deprived Crimson Valley," Owen said, completely unaware that she’d left that place long ago.
