"?!?!" Dena was taken by surprise when Yuan abruptly grabbed her hand, stopping her from using Eternal Essence.
"This isn’t a power that you should wield within the Nine Heavens," Yuan quickly explained.
"Why not—"
Just as Dena opened her mouth to inquire more details, she suddenly felt a painful sensation course through her body, as if assaulted by an invisible power.
"Cough!"
She coughed up a mouthful of blood the following moment.
"What just happened...?" She stared at the bloodied floor with a dazed look on her face.
Seeing this, Yuan released a helpless sigh before explaining, "To keep things simple, this world is protected by an otherworldly force known as the ’Absolute Power.’ Within its influence, Eternal Essence—the power you just used—cannot be freely wielded without paying a tremendous price."
He narrowed his eyes and continued, "Even godly beings such as the Demon God are powerless before it."
"Even the Demon God...?" Dena swallowed nervously as she wiped the blood from her lips, her pupils trembling at the thought of such a mysterious and unfathomable power.
"But to be honest, that’s not why I stopped you," Yuan admitted. "Since Eternal Essence is incredibly powerful, I was worried you might accidentally blow this place apart."
He then looked at her with a puzzled expression and added, "In fact, I didn’t expect the Absolute Power to affect you at all."
"What do you mean?" Dena asked with her head tilted.
"I thought the Absolute Power only affected Eternals since I can wield Eternal Essence within the Nine Heavens without any issue," he said. "Perhaps it’s because you’re now a Pseudo Eternal."
"Pseudo Eternal? Me?" Dena pointed at herself with a dumbfounded face.
Yuan nodded and explained, "I’m not sure how, but after accepting my blood, you became one."
Dena pondered for a moment before responding, "Maybe it has something to do with that thing I consumed."
"Are you injured?" Yuan then asked.
"No, I am fine."
"Fortunately, you didn’t use much Eternal Essence."
"But I didn’t even use that much... In fact, I barely used it."
"That’s why you got off easy with a warning."
After a brief moment of silence, Dena spoke again, a hint of curiosity in her voice, "What is its purpose? What is it trying to protect?"
Yuan shrugged and replied, "I’d like to know as well. All I know is that it was left behind by the most powerful existence to ever exist—the Absolute Being—and that countless Eternals are attempting to obtain it."
"You can obtain it?" Dena’s eyes widened upon hearing this new information.
"That’s what I’ve been told," Yuan replied. "Although nobody has actually seen it before, since it’s completely invisible."
"What’s the benefit of acquiring it?"
"Do you have any clues for us?" Lev then asked.
"Nope," Yuan replied without hesitation. "The Absolute Power is completely invisible to both senses and treasures, so you’d basically be searching for a ghost."
He then added, "The only thing I can tell you is that it won’t be located within an artificial world and that it’s somewhere within this world."
"Then how are we supposed to know if we come across it?" Dena asked.
"Beats me." Yuan simply shrugged.
"Are you messing with me?" Dena frowned, suspecting that he was being deliberately unhelpful because he disapproved of her decision to search for it.
"There’s a reason nobody has managed to find it yet. If it were that easy, the Eternals would have already obtained it long ago," Yuan said with a sigh.
"That being said, the Absolute Power possesses the ability to weaken the influence of Eternals. Since you’re now a Pseudo Eternal yourself, there’s a chance you might sense something if you get close to it."
"Is that so..."
"Before you go... remember the rules I gave Selena and the others? They also apply to you two, so don’t go around picking fights with people."
"What if someone picks a fight with us?" Dena asked with a serious expression.
"The vast majority of people in this world haven’t even lived for a million years. Compared to you, they’re basically infants," Yuan replied calmly. "So try your best to ignore them."
After a brief pause, he added, "And if they refuse to be ignored... then do what you think is right... without blowing things out of proportion."
