The new nanny coaxed her gently, saying, “Miss, you need to eat a little. This is the hospital’s prescribed dict. It’s good for your body and we shouldn’t waste it.”
“What do you mean, ‘shouldn’t waste’?” Elowyn walked in, holding her head high as she stared down the nanny. “We hired you to take care of Jaslyn, not to lecture her. Do you understand?”
The nanny lowered her head and swallowed her anger. “Understood.”
Elowyn rolled her eyes, handed the thermos to the nanny, and said, “How good can hospital food even taste? Hurry and serve what I brought for Jaslyn.”
She then turned to Jaslyn and smiled. “Jaslyn, darling, you look so much better today.”
“Aunt Elowyn, I want to leave the hospital. I don’t want to stay here anymore.” Jaslyn snuggled into her arms and pouted. “I want fried chicken and ice cream!”
“When you’re fully recovered, I’ll take you to eat whatever you want. How about that?”
“Aunt Elowyn, you’re the best!”
“But before that, you have to be a good girl and eat healthy food, okay?” Elowyn picked up a bowl and tried to feed her soup.
The strong fishy smell hit Jaslyn’s nose and she instinctively pushed the bowl away, spilling the scalding soup all over Elowyn.
“It smells awful…” She pouted, then noticed Elowyn’s hand turning red from the burn and panicked. “Aunt Elowyn, I didn’t mean it!”
Looking at her designer outfit ruined by the soup ignited the fire in Elowyn’s chest. This little brat is just as troublesome as her mother!
“What happened?” Jack’s voice suddenly came from the door. Elowyn quickly masked her anger and put on a pitiful face.
“Jaslyn didn’t mean it. It must be because the soup I made doesn’t taste good. Please don’t blame her. She’s just used to eating what her mom cooked.” She hid her reddened hand behind her back but still gasped softly in pain.
Jack stepped forward, took her hand, and frowned. “Jaslyn, how could you be so naughty? Cooking is the nanny’s job. Aunt Elowyn went out of her way to cook for you, and you’re causing trouble?”
The once fair skin of her hand was now badly burned, making anyone who saw it feel pity.
Jaslyn shrank back under his scolding, guilt flooding her little heart. Her eyes turned red and she choked out, “I’m sorry, Daddy. I’m sorry, Aunt Elowyn. I didn’t mean to.”
Elowyn pulled her hand back slightly, showing a pained but forgiving smile. “It’s okay, Jaslyn. Aunt Elowyn doesn’t blame you.”

Jack ignored Jaslyn and pressed the nurse call button, telling the nanny to clean up the mess on the floor.
The nurse soon arrived.
“Her hand needs to be bandaged.”
The nurses were a little speechless. They had rushed over thinking it was the child who was hurt. But it was a hospital, after all. Seeing someone injured, they still brought a first aid kit and gave Elowyn basic
treatment.
Jaslyn curled up on her bed, looking pitifully at them.
At that moment, Elina arrived, alarmed by the news and expecting something had happened to Jaslyn. But what she saw was Jack carefully holding Elowyn’s hand while Jaslyn sat alone on the bed, quietly shedding
tears.
After hearing the nurse’s explanation, Elina’s expression slowly calmed down. Without even stepping into the room, she turned and left.
Elowyn caught sight of her retreating figure and quickly said, “Jack, I think I just saw Elina. Why didn’t she come in to see Jaslyn?”
Jack released Elowyn’s hand and glanced coldly toward the door. “She doesn’t deserve to come in.”
His cold and heartless words made Elowyn secretly rejoice.
She turned to look at Jaslyn and sighed. “Yeah, if she really cared about you, Jaslyn, she wouldn’t insist on divorcing your dad and abandoning you.”
Hearing this, Jaslyn’s emotions exploded, and she burst into tears. The nanny went to comfort her, but Jaslyn pushed her away hard. “I don’t want you! I don’t want you!”
Elowyn acted concerned and, ignoring the pain in her hand, hugged Jaslyn tightly, scolding the nanny, “What were you doing? How could you not watch her properly?”
The nanny couldn’t take it anymore and turned to Jack. “Sir, I can’t do this job anymore. I don’t even want my salary.”
Jack frowned but before he could say anything, the nanny had already walked out.
Elina, just stepping into the hallway, overheard the nanny’s complaints.
“The child is spoiled, but that woman really thinks she’s the lady of the house. Sooner or later, she’ll spoil the kid rotten.”
Elina glanced back at the hospital room with no emotion in her heart. Jaslyn was young, but she wasn’t stupid, nor deaf to reason. Since she had made her choice to stand with Elowyn, any remaining hope Elina had was now completely extinguished.
In the following days, without a nanny, Jack felt overwhelmed. Before they had hired help, why hadn’t he noticed Jaslyn could be such a handful?
Now she was wearing him out to the point where he couldn’t even focus on work.

Howard glanced at Jack through the rearview mirror. “Mr. Mansor, you’ve been running back and forth between the hospital and the office. You’ve barely been home. It’s really hard to find a good nanny right now. Maybe… Mrs. Mansor could take care of Jaslyn for a few days?”
Jack opened his tired eyes and answered with great displeasure, “This house doesn’t fall apart without her. Say one more word and you’re fired.”
He suddenly remembered that Elina used to keep the whole household running smoothly.
Howard shut his mouth. “I’ll find a suitable nanny as soon as possible.”
The car stopped outside the hospital. Jack hesitated before opening the door.
His brows furrowed, and when he looked up, he saw Elina walking into the hospital, chatting with a colleague.
She wore a smile Jack hadn’t seen in years. He froze, staring at her face-once he thought it plain, now he found it gentle, calm, and even… captivating. Even in an unflattering white lab coat, her graceful figure couldn’t be hidden.
Jack knew better than anyone just how attractive Elina really was. But now, the woman who used to have eyes only for him was growing more and more distant.
“Mr. Mansor, we’ve arrived,” Howard reminded softly.
Jack snapped back to reality and got out of the car, his movements full of suppressed anger.
At the elevator, Elina listened to her colleague talk about the hospital’s new medical equipment updates and nodded with satisfaction. “The director finally decided to invest some serious money.”
“Exactly.”
She looked up and saw Jack stepping into the elevator with a dark expression. She shifted her gaze away and continued talking as if she hadn’t seen him.
Her colleague laughed and said, “Anyway, it’s also because you’re about
Before she could finish, the elevator doors reopened. Elowyn rushed in, panting,
“Jack, you’re here! I told you not to worry with me taking care of Jaslyn.”
She turned, spotted Elina, and smiled sweetly. “Elina, what a coincidence! You’re here too. Jaslyn misses you so much. You’re already at the hospital; why not visit her?”
Elina ignored her. Suddenly, Jack spoke with a cold sneer, “She’s no longer Jaslyn’s mother.”
