Chapter 310: Nyx’s Cry For Help

By the time they rolled into the bunker’s hidden garage, Aria was giggling again, stealing a quick kiss before hopping out of the car. She looped her arm around his neck for another one, deeper this time, before announcing she was going to call her mother. Kaiden watched her disappear down the hall, getting a final smell of her fragrant hair as she left.

He was about to follow after her when his phone buzzed in his pocket. He glanced at the caller ID.

Nyx.

Kaiden’s stomach dropped the instant her voice cut through the receiver.

Urgent. No-nonsense. No teasing edge.

"Kaiden! Basement!"

A chill sprinted down his spine. It was simply too much of a coincidence. The mission text, Maximilian’s name, the grotesque cruelty spelled out by the system... could it already be happening? His mind spun with possibilities, every one of them bad.

Was Maximilian moving pieces against them? A corporate strike against Valhalla’s Sinners? Or worse, had someone slipped past their defenses? The image of Nyx, helpless and cornered, made his blood boil.

His protective instincts flared white-hot. He didn’t think before he moved.

Boots pounding against the stairs, Kaiden tore through the hall with incredible urgency. Every muscle in his body thrummed with fight-or-flight, and fight was winning very one-sidedly. By the time he reached the basement door, he was so keyed up that he almost kicked it off the hinges.

The world narrowed into a tunnel of raw adrenaline. He threw the door open...

And froze.

Not from danger.

But from the sight.

Nyx was there. Naked. Her pale skin gleamed under the basement lights, flushed in a way that was nothing like the terror he painted in his mind. Straps of black leather hugged her body in an utterly sinful manner, binding her wrists above her head, cinching her waist, forcing her legs apart.

A seal parchment pulsed with magical properties across her lady flower, covering her most intimate part in the form of an arcane lock. But her other entrance... wasn’t shielded. Her perfect backside was shamelessly exposed, her tight ring presented openly in a way that made Kaiden’s breath catch in his throat.

The contrast hit him like a truck. He’d stormed in expecting blood, intrusion, Maximilian’s cruelty made flesh. But instead of that, he was staring at a scene of raw bondage lust. Nyx, the Space Valkyrie, looked like a divine captive on display, helpless in her submission.

Kaiden’s pulse pounded in his ears. His protective instinct clashed hard with something darker, hotter, far less noble.

The chains jingled above Nyx as she gave him the most amused, infuriatingly smug little smile in her arsenal. "Did you suddenly become a barbarian, Kai? That poor door nearly didn’t survive you."

To punctuate it, she gave her ass another wiggle. The supple flesh quivered under the motion.

Nyx had always been the submissive one. His willing mate. The girl who gave him full control, no questions asked. But Bastet’s presence had changed the balance. Bastet was a rival in submission, a rival in devotion. Her whole existence screamed competition. Combined with Aria’s permanent neediness and Luna’s charm that so often took Kaiden off his feet... Made Nyx feel as if she had to make a move of her own. She wasn’t about to be overshadowed.

In that moment, something snapped in him.

Kaiden’s lips curled slowly into a dark smile. His hand reached for the hem of his shirt, tugging it up over his head in one smooth motion. He let it fall to the floor as he strode toward her, each step thudding heavily against the basement’s floor.

When he reached her, he didn’t hesitate. His palm came down in a loud smack against her flawless ass, the sound echoing off the walls. Her body jolted, the plush flesh rippling under his strike right before it began reddening.

He leaned close enough that his voice was nothing but a low growl in her ear.

"Thanks for the meal."
