Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 149

"Well." He looks around, suddenly fascinated with something he's probably too used to. "Probably because it's clean now."

I nod again. "That's a definite possibility."

He looks at me and he can't keep a straight face.

I glare at him. "If you've got a better conversation starter, I'm all ears."

He puts his hands up in defeat. "You've got me."

"Good." I take another sip. "So..." I look up at him again, straight into his eyes. It reminds me of something I wanted to ask a while ago. "Aiden and Carson," I start.

His entire expression changes. "They won't be here for a while. Sorry," he says it so bluntly I'm taken aback.

"Okay," I say, staring at him. "That's not what I was asking."

"Oh." He drinks some water, but I think he does it to cover up the fact that he still looks very upset. It's not rageful, just frustrated.

I take a step closer. "I was gonna say, Aiden's eyes turn silver."

"I know," he mutters.

"Listen to me," I say.

He shuts up after that.

Geez. I rub my forehead. "Aiden's eyes turn silver. Carson's turn gold. I know that, because I've seen both of their wolf forms, but I haven't seen yours." I look up at him, and now he looks a little less upset. "And I've never seen your eyes change color, so I was wondering."

"You really haven't?" he asks.

I shake my head. "Well, sometimes I think I do, but then I think I'm wrong."

He blinks and I see the change instantaneously. One eye is green. The other is blue. My eyes dart between them with pure fascination. "Heterochromia?" I ask.

He nods, and just like that it's gone.

I raise an eyebrow. "Why'd you make it go away?"

"It's hard to maintain without shifting," he says.

"Oh. Sorry."

He shakes his head. "It's fine. I'll show you my wolf form one of these days, if you want. It just looks like a black version of Aiden and Carson though."

He stares into my eyes. The back of his hand runs over my cheek, down my neck, and then his fingers trace the exposed parts of my shoulder. I shiver under his touch, as his fingertips run over my collarbone, and I wonder how this isn't leading to exactly what I thought before-sex. And that's not something I'm comfortable with doing right now.

"Axel," I say firmly. "I'm not having sex with you."

"That's not what I want right now," he says. He doesn't move any closer. He gives me the space I'm demanding with my eyes. He opens his mouth to say something else, but we hear the loudest snore ever basically echo off the walls. Michael.

I sigh. "We can't do this here. We can't even talk about this here."

"Can we go somewhere more private then?" he asks.

I was semi-hoping he would ask that, but I feel like it's a bad decision all around. This is crazy, right? So why am I considering it? "If you don't plan on having sex, what do you plan on doing somewhere private?" You know what they say, boys are only after one thing.

"There are other things to do Mia. Like kiss."

"You just wanna kiss me?" I ask.

"Among other things..." I can see how flustered he's getting.

"I'm not gonna-"

"No clothes will come off, and I won't touch you anywhere inappropriate." He says firmly. "I just want us to be... close. Intimate, even if it's not in a sexual way like that."
