"Just get up." He moves my arm away.
I raise an eyebrow. "What?"
"Get up." He gestures towards the chair I'm sitting in.
I'm a little afraid he'll tell me to leave, but I test things out. He pushes the chair away once I'm off it, looking at me from the corner of his eyes. "Well."
"Well what?" I ask.
He puts his arm around my waist, pulling me closer. "Just come here already."
My face burns. I wrap my arms around his shoulders as he guides me onto his lap. Neither one of us has any smart things to say. We can't even look at each other. I don't count down. I just lift the phone, aiming it towards us.
I take the picture, but it's the same problem as before. He's not looking at the camera again. He's looking at me, and I can't take my eyes off it.
I've never seen him look at me like that before.
"Are we done?" he asks.
I shake my head.
He sighs.
"Just one more." I angle my phone on his desk, putting a 15 sec timer. I click the button.
"Okay. Look at the camera." I hold him closer, resting my head against his. I keep my eyes on his face, but suddenly I'm staring into silver.
I'm not breathing when his hand brushes over my cheek. I do the same for him, bringing him in closer. The shutter sounds in a world far away from the one we're in. I feel a few papers crinkle underneath me. I feel his hands under my thighs, on the small of my back, around my waist. I tangle my fingers in his hair. I forget that air is something I need.
When his lips leave mine and travel down my neck, I lean into the feeling of his teeth, his tongue, his hot breath burning against me. His fingers trail under my shirt. My head falls to the side, eyes barely registering the items scattered across the desk in no better state than me.
"Aiden..." I say.
"Do you want me to stop?" he asks.
I shake my head. He makes a noise a human shouldn't, but I understand. I feel it. I... wait, what the hell? I push him away a little, grabbing something beside my head.
I glare at the item, then at him.
"... Maybe it could work." He pulls the paper from my hand, eyes scanning over it for the millionth time. "One final demand. Peace or war. Their choice."
"Exactly. Make a new treaty, and then if they refuse or break it at any point in the future, it would justify you joining up with your allies against them." Because that's what this is really about. This isn't about preventing the war with Bloodmoon. It's about making sure nobody blames us for it first and foremost. Then we can start worrying about making sure it doesn't happen.
"We'd have to declare it in front of everybody," Aiden says. "All five packs."
"Is that possible?" I turn to look at him.
He shrugs. "I don't know. I've never even seen the beta of Bloodmoon, let alone the alpha...A representative wouldn't work in this situation, so if they're unwilling to meet themselves." He puts the paper down. Case closed.
I frown. "You'll try at least, though?"
"With Fei still connected to mindlink, there's no point." He leans back, but I'm not having it.
"Suzie, Ethel, Michael, and I are going to figure out the Fei situation." I grab a few of the papers I think I might need. "You just worry about making this summit happen."
"You guys aren't doing anything," he says.
"Oh, yes, we are. We're going to go do blood sacrifices in the woods if that's what it takes to make sure that Bloodmoon has no reason to accuse us of starting this." I shuffle my papers against the desk, getting up.
