Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 72

"Ooo, ooo, make them do the jump thing," Krys says while leaning on the railing.

I look at her. "What's the jump thing?"

Krys smiles. "Prepare to have your mind blown."

Brittany shakes her head, smiling, and points at a random person running past us. "You."

The guy breaks away immediately and jogs up to her. He's sweaty, like 10 ft tall, and completely built of muscle covered from head to toe in a very tight black material. All of the people training are.

He nods his head respectfully to Brittany, "Beta." His eyes turn to me, and I'm surprised when he does the same thing. "Luna."

I smile, taken aback. "Hello," I nod back respectfully.

His eyes widen, and then he smiles. He nods his head again. "You don't have to do that. The honor is mine."

I'm shook. What is this level of respect?

"Okay, okay. We don't have all day." Brittany waves. "Jump over the railing and then come back up."

He gives a wtf look and turns to Krys. She just keeps sipping her smoothie and looks away. I guess this happens a lot.

He sighs before taking a few steps back. Then he literally launches himself off of the railing. I watch the guy land perfectly on the second level floor, almost silently. It's loud in here, but not loud enough to mask that kind of impact.

"What the..." I trail off.

"It's not done yet," Krys says, taking a few steps back.

I follow her, and sure enough, he runs backwards a bit and then forwards full impact. He uses the railing of the staircase as a launchpad, grabs the railing in front of me and swings himself over. It's not just the fact that he did it but the ease at which he did. I didn't measure the sweat on him, but I swear there's not a single drop more. He lands without a sound.

I lean my head back on the seat and wonder when the heck this became my life. I don't know what part of it I'm quite confused about, but it's a general question mark that just doesn't stop being a question mark. Like what the heck? Werewolves? Really? It's almost become normal and I don't know if that's a good thing. I just saw a guy jump up and down nearly two stories, and Brittany claims they can do it even higher. That was baby stuff.

Brittany stops the car in an open parking lot outside of what appears to be a hike or nature walk. Oh lord, I didn't sign up for this. "No," I say. "I've walked enough today."

She rolls her eyes. "It's like five steps, princess. Can you manage that?"

I give her a look and I get out of the car. She doesn't lead Krys and I towards the path opening. Instead she walks to the edge of the parking lot and my breath catches in my throat.

You can see the whole town from here, I think. But it's the trees intertwined throughout the entire thing that just gives the entire place this sense of coziness I can't quite describe. I look behind myself at all the trees and for the first time in a while I consider my own safety.

"Are we safe?" I ask.

"What? Yeah. We're well inside the territory and I don't smell anything," she waves me off. "Now pay attention. That's the school building," she points to the left. "That's your house."
