Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 80

A staring contests starts between the two of them.

Carson is about to open his mouth, Axel has already started to say, "Me-"

But it's ultimately Aiden that growls in Michael's face before his brothers get the chance to. "Me."

My mouth falls open. The brothers look amongst each other. Any sense of peace and tranquility that existed before Michael came is gone. They look at each other like they're out for blood.

Michael takes one last look at his handiwork before saying, "Interesting." Then he turns to me. "I guess you'll be home after your clubs?"

I just stand there stock still, watching the potential disaster that's about to break out between them. "...Yeah."

"Thought so. Have fun with your boyfriend." Michael walks away with too much confidence for one person to bear alone. He's has a dangerous look in his eyes that means he's thinking. He's thinking and I don't like it.

The first thing that Aiden says after he scares everyone away from the halls is, "You told him about us."

"I didn't," I say.

"He knows," Carson says.

"We don't know that technically," Axel adds quietly.

Aiden looks at him. "Did you see the way he was acting? Are you sure you didn't tell, Mia, because I'll be honest, I don't believe you."

Of course he wouldn't. I sigh. "He was acting weird, but no I didn't tell him."

"More importantly," Carson walks up to Aiden's face. "Why in the world did you say you were the one dating her?" He jabs a finger towards Aiden's chest.

Aiden gives him a look that could kill. "You better get your finger away from me."

Carson barely manages to put his hand down. "Well?"

Aiden doesn't look like he wants to say a damn thing, but I'm not going to lie, I'm curious myself. That was unexpected. Axel looks at him from the corner of his eyes.

Aiden looks at all of us. "I have the most classes with her, and I'm seen walking in the halls with her the most. Therefore-"

Carson's brow furrows. "Don't you therefore me."

Aiden doesn't stop. "Therefore, it makes the most sense for him to think we're the ones together."

"Alright," Carson nods looking like he's getting angrier by the second. "So what's gonna happen when he sees us together because if you think I'm going to hide being with her you're in for a treat."

Aiden has a simple answer. "I suggest you invest in some grey hoodies then."

He waves his hand. "What I'm trying to say is, we always fight over things. Our room. Our food. Our pack. Heck, I still get on Carson about the vivid memory I have of him hogging our space in the womb."

I try not to laugh.

He smiles. "See? We may seem always unified, especially to the pack, but it's a riot inside our heads all the time. Sometimes it just comes out a little more... heated than usual. But, we really love each other and it just takes us time to compromise and assert our own individuality in the group without overstepping lines that we don't always know are there. Just be patient with us. We'll figure it out. It's just a brother thing."

That made me feel a lot better. I always feel like I'm ruining them, but if they're used to fighting, maybe it's okay. I know they don't fight any worse than me and my siblings.

Then Axel says I have to go around town with Onai to learn about domestic affairs and all of the relief I felt two seconds ago disappears.

I scratch the back of my neck staring at him. "I don't know... I'd feel more comfortable with Brittany and Krys."

He nods. "Because you know them?"

I nod quickly. "Yeah, exactly." Maybe he'll say I can go with them again.

"Well," he says. "How can you expect to know my beta if you never take the time to get to know him too?"

I give him a hesitant look. He has a point but I don't want to consider it. "Axel I get what you're saying but Onai, he's... I think I'm afraid of him." He's like Aiden but ten times colder. And that's saying something because Aiden's straight ice.
