Divorce Count Down Chapter 21

“Do you need any help?” 

When Amelia turned around, she saw Julian leaning against the doorway, his eyes filled with concern as he looked at her. 

She pretended not to hear and didn’t respond to his words. 

Julian didn’t feel awkward at all and continued speaking to himself. 

“The last time it rained this heavily was a year ago, wasn’t it? That day we were both at home, and you said you wanted to bake a cake yourself…” 

His voice mingled with the patter of rain, gently recounting old memories buried in time. 

With nowhere else to go, Amelia was forced to listen to him reminisce about the past. 

As she listened, images began to surface in her mind, and her once calm emotions started to ripple. 

From talking about the rain to their first date, from their married life to their university days, Julian seemed lost in his memories, his tone growing more nostalgic. 

The memories he spoke of were all beautiful and amusing, but to Amelia, they only left a sense of emptiness, as if everything had faded away. 

She finally couldn’t help but interrupt him.  

“If you’re so free, why don’t you drive your car and make some extra cash?” 

Having achieved his goal, Julian quickly invited her into the car. 

To avoid further disturbance, Amelia closed her eyes and pretended to rest as soon as she got in. 

Julian didn’t say anything more. 

As long as he saw her sitting beside him, his heart gradually settled. 

After they arrived at their destination, Amelia took out 20 dollars from her wallet and handed it over. 

“Thanks for your effort, keep the change.” 

“Lia, are you free tomorrow? I’d like to meet and talk with you.” 

After all that typing, it was just one sentence, yet Amelia didn’t know how to reply. 

When it came to Elizabeth, her feelings had always been complicated. 

Before the divorce, they could be considered rivals in love, but she also understood that they weren’t truly opposed to each other-the root of the problem was always Julian. 

Back then, her feelings toward Elizabeth were a mix of adnfiration, a trace of jealousy, and the helplessness of wanting something she couldn’t have. She didn’t want to get too close, nor did she want any conflict. 

After the divorce, they had only met a few times and were little more than acquaintances. By rights, she should politely refuse, since the only connection between them had been severed. 

But for some reason, Amelia inexplicably wanted to accept the invitation, curious about what Elizabeth wanted to talk about. 

Driven by curiosity, she agreed and set a time and place to meet.
