"You don't need to know," Andres said flatly.
Molly's face flushed, embarrassment rising hot.
Up front, Murray spoke without looking back. "Mr. Andres, we're being followed."
Molly twisted around. Several cars were tailing them tightly.
Hans's voice was calm, certain. "Looks like today's route to the estate got leaked."
Molly's nerves spiked. "Should we call the police?"
There were at least seven or eight vehicles behind them. They had one car.
Andres didn't even blink. "Stay on the route."
He kept texting Maeve: "Want to go out for dinner?"
Three minutes passed before Maeve finally sent a voice message.
"Stop texting. I'm busy."
Murray, who was driving, was shocked.
Hans, who was watching the show, was speechless.
Only Miss Vance could talk to Mr. Andres like that and live to tell the tale.
Molly sneaked a look at Andres's face.
He wasn't angry. A faint smile actually touched the corner of his mouth.
Her curiosity burned even harder. Who was this woman, to make a man like Andres fall this far, this willingly?
Two minutes later, another voice message came in.
"When are you coming back?"
Andres replied, "Within an hour."
"Good. I need to talk to you."
He rapped on the window and smiled like he already owned the ending. "Do I ask you to come out, Uncle Andres… or do you come out on your own?"
Andres didn't answer—because at that moment, Maeve's message came through.
Molly was practically vibrating with panic. She couldn't believe that at a time like this, he was still texting.
Maeve: "Need help?"
Warmth spread through Andres's chest. He typed back fast: "I can handle it."
Maeve never disappointed him. Somehow she always knew when something was happening.
He finished the reply, then slowly rolled the window down.
"If you don't want to follow your father's footsteps," Andres said, voice calm as ice, "take your people and leave. We're still family. I'll try to let your line survive."
Xavier's smile turned ugly. "Still acting tough. Uncle Andres, you're way too confident."
"Come out on your own and you'll suffer less. If I have to drag you out, it's going to get embarrassing for everyone."
