Divorce Failed! My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 220

"Please… please spare my worthless life. I don't have stones that big, but I do have smaller ones."

"However many you want—I'll give them to you for free."

He was greedy, yes—but in the face of absolute power, survival came first.

Diamonds were everywhere here. If he lived, he could always dig up more.

Andres seized Martin by the collar, hauling him up like he weighed nothing.

"The diamonds were never the point," he said coolly. "I want the emerald artifact you got through illegal channels."

After a week of rest, Maeve stepped back onto Aethelburg University's campus.

This time, the atmosphere was different.

The students who'd been caught up in the online frenzy no longer looked at her with hostility.

Some even came up to apologize—awkward, embarrassed, offering a quiet "sorry" for the things they'd said when they didn't know better.

Maeve didn't recognize most of them. And she didn't bother holding it against them, either.

Following the crowd was a human reflex.

If she'd been a bystander, she might've been just as certain—just as convinced her own analysis was the truth.

The moment Elena saw Maeve, she hurried over, beaming.

"Maeve! Look at you—you look so much better. You finally have some color in your cheeks."

Maeve smiled. "I took a few days to rest. I'm fine now."

She'd always had a good impression of Elena.

Straightforward, bold, no hidden agenda—and when Maeve had been surrounded, Elena had stepped in without hesitation and stood up for her.

Elena looped her arm through Maeve's and walked her toward the academic building, chattering as they went about what Maeve had missed.

Maeve frowned, thinking. "The musician?"

Elena nodded quickly. "Yep. The piano legend—Tommy Ford. Won a bunch of major international awards."

"Leah's in journalism and media, but musically? She inherited her dad's talent."

"I've seen her résumé. It's… honestly impressive."

"From elementary school through high school, every time she transferred, she'd write a new fight song for the team."

Maeve blinked. "A fight song?"

Elena explained, "It's just a figure of speech. A lot of schools use original songs to boost school spirit."

"And schools compete over everything—grades, sports, even whose song is better."

"Leah's character is… questionable. But her songs? They've topped school forums more than once."

Maeve asked, "So now that she's at Aethelburg University, she's planning to write another song?"
