Divorce Failed! My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 243

Maeve didn't budge. "Whether it spices things up is beside the point. I just want to get pregnant as soon as possible."

Andres hadn't expected her to be this obsessed with having a baby.

"You're still young. We can think about kids in a few years."

Maeve pushed his hand away, serious as a judge. "I've already been to the hospital. I'm fine."

Andres lifted a brow. "So you're implying I'm the one with a problem?"

Maeve didn't even flinch. "We've tried this many times. Nothing's happened. I think you should get checked."

"Maybe all those late nights and skipped meals have finally caught up with your swimmers."

Andres cut her off. "I get a full physical every year. I'm perfectly healthy. And…"

He braced a hand on the chair and caged her in with his arms.

"I eat well. I sleep normally. I don't have that ridiculous problem."

His fingers slid from her cheek down to her lower belly.

"If this starts to show, are you seriously going to waddle into class pregnant?"

"Maybe the baby doesn't want its mom to sacrifice her education, so it's refusing to show up."

Maeve slapped his hand away. "Don't hide behind superstition. If both of us are fine, we wouldn't be waiting this long."

Andres frowned. "You're that eager for a baby?"

Maeve nodded. "If a baby can break The Binding, I want a positive test tomorrow."

Andres: "So you don't want a child. You want an exit."

Maeve looked at him like he'd asked the dumbest question in the world. "What else would I want?"

She stood, grabbed Andres by the wrist, and tugged him toward the bed. "I'm ovulating this week. Let's work a little harder."

For the first time, Andres refused her. "Not tonight. I'm tired."

He wanted her—God, he wanted her. But somewhere deep down, he didn't want her getting exactly what she wanted.

Maeve froze, caught off guard. "You were just bragging about being perfectly healthy. We were on a plane for a few hours and now you can't?"

Andres saw the provocation for what it was.

"Think whatever you want. I'm not in the mood."

Maeve set a hand on his shoulder, her voice turning syrupy and dangerous.

"Then be clear with me. You don't want to… or you can't?"
