Divorce Failed! My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 269

Andres had guessed it.

This situation really was Maeve's doing.

Back at the observatory terrace, when Molly blocked her path, Maeve had already realized Molly could be used.

Quietly, she'd planted a charm on her—using Molly's hatred as fuel to blow everything up.

If Molly felt no real malice, the charm would dissolve on its own within twenty-four hours.

But the moment ugly intent took root, the charm would magnify it—tenfold, a hundredfold, a thousandfold.

Molly thought she was the one controlling the board.

She didn't realize she'd stepped straight into Maeve's trap.

Molly whipped around to the room at large, voice vibrating with excitement. "Everyone—get on your phones. Look it up. Maeve is number one on trending."

"The video is crystal clear. She killed someone. It's brutal."

She rushed toward Andres. "Mr. Andres, wake up! Maeve is not who you think she is. Everything you're seeing is an illusion."

"She's using something on you—witchcraft, or some kind of drug to control your mind, to make you spoil her, love her, care about her no matter what."

"And Mrs. White's fever? That 'recovery' is fake."

"She's willing to murder. What else wouldn't she do?"

"Arrest her. She needs prison. People like her belong in hell."

Molly, half-hysterical, lunged toward Maeve like she meant to claw her.

Andres didn't even hesitate.

He pulled Maeve tight against his chest and shoved Molly back with a hard, sharp motion.

"Enough, Molly. Keep this up and I won't let you off."

He turned to Maeve immediately, voice low. "Did she hurt you?"

Maeve didn't bother answering out loud.

With Molly's skill level, she couldn't even get close enough to touch a single strand of Maeve's hair.

Molly stumbled backward, nearly falling—

and James caught her from behind, arms bracing her.

James had never met anyone like her in his life.

His jaw clenched. "Arrest her. We're taking her."

A suspected murderer. Illegal medication. Andres personally shielding her.

No matter what the reason was, James couldn't walk away empty-handed.

Then his phone rang.

He almost didn't pick up—until he saw the caller ID. His face twitched.

He answered, suddenly respectful. "Minister Hugh… why are you calling me?"

Whatever came through the receiver drained the color from his face.

"Minister Hugh, I assure you this has nothing to do with personal grudges," James said quickly. "We received a citizen complaint—"

He tried to explain.

The voice on the other end cut him off and tore into him.
