Divorce Failed! My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 327

Simon looked at her without the slightest restraint, an aggressive smile curving his mouth.

Maeve didn't dodge. She met his stare head-on, calm and unbothered.

For a moment, everyone around them blurred into background noise.

It was just the two of them, trading looks like weapons, each silently claiming more ground.

The wordless standoff lasted less than ten seconds before Simon finally looked away and began the lecture.

The instant he spoke, the room fell dead quiet.

The universe really did play favorites.

Not only was he gorgeous and brilliant—his voice was criminal, the kind that made people listen even when they didn't understand a word.

After a brief introduction, Simon dove right in.

"Today, I want to talk to you about artificial hearts."

"In 1982, the first artificial heart transplant was performed successfully overseas. It shocked the world."

"Even though the patient only lived one hundred and twelve days afterward, it was still a miracle in medical history."

"As research advanced, artificial hearts evolved—from early materials to today's fully magnetically levitated systems."

A focused man was always dangerous.

Simon's voice had presence—cutting, compelling, almost hypnotic. Even students who'd never taken a biology class leaned forward, drawn in by sheer force of delivery.

If he ever taught, his students would come out terrifyingly good.

"Artificial hearts can give patients a second life," he continued, "but there are three major drawbacks."

"Low survival rate. Short lifespan. Restricted blood flow."

"To overcome these issues, Lab C will tackle them one by one."

Then his voice cut through again.

"The female student in the last row—the one spinning a pen."

He pointed directly at Maeve.

"Why don't you tell me what you think? Suggestions. Ideas."

Mateo rolled his eyes.

From the moment Simon walked in, he'd looked this way every five minutes.

And who he was looking at wasn't exactly a mystery.

In that entire lecture hall, only Maeve's beauty had an edge to it—sharp enough to draw blood. Even tucked in the back corner, she still stood out, all intelligence and quiet danger.

The fact that Simon had chosen her first made the other girls seethe.
