Divorce Failed! My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 349

Natalia's shriek startled Jasmine so badly she nearly dropped the tray of tea and pastries.

Lucifer had been sleeping comfortably around Andres's arm, and Natalia's piercing voice jolted him awake.

He lifted his head and hissed sharply at her, tongue flicking—pure irritation.

Who was this woman yelling like that? Some people were trying to sleep.

Andres pinched the bridge of his nose. His dislike of Natalia deepened by the second.

He forced himself to explain, "Lucifer's a pet. He won't hurt anyone."

Natalia immediately switched into lecture mode.

"Mr. White, do you have any regard for human life at all?"

"Even if it's ‘a pet,' you shouldn't let a snake roam around like this."

"Don't you know snakes are cold-blooded?"

"No matter how well you treat it, it won't return affection."

"There are so many staff in this house—what if someone gets hurt? Who takes responsibility?"

Natalia never forgot her preferred persona: righteous, fearless, morally superior.

Unimpressed by wealth. Brave enough to challenge her employer for the sake of "justice."

A perfect way to force attention and interest onto herself.

Maeve came down the stairs in a silk robe and took in the scene: Natalia, dripping with virtue, doing her best to make herself unforgettable to Andres.

Natalia's expression shifted the moment she saw Maeve.

"Y-you're here too? Don't tell me you two are living together?"

Maeve thought it was an astonishingly stupid question.

"Whether we live together has what, exactly, to do with you treating Mrs. White's legs?"

Natalia had no answer.

When Anya arranged for her to move into Azure Bay, she hadn't mentioned Maeve lived here too.

"He's my precious baby boy. You don't need to label him like that."

"And he's never hurt anyone. Meeting him with this much hostility says more about you than it does about him."

Maeve lifted her arm and whistled once.

Lucifer moved with almost theatrical elegance—sliding up her arm and then settling, coiled against her chest.

The command was smooth and precise. Even Andres found himself quietly impressed.

This wasn't the first time Maeve had called Lucifer her son.

Andres had always assumed she was joking.

But hearing her say it in front of Natalia, something in his chest warmed.

He was Lucifer's dad. Maeve was Lucifer's mom.

Which—by association—made them sound like the most legitimate married couple on earth.

Natalia was about to launch into another lecture when the sound of wheels cut her off—Hans had arrived, pushing a wheelchair.
