Divorce Failed! My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 353

As the situation teetered in a deadlock, Maeve appeared—fresh from the shower, wrapped in a robe, yawning with a sleepy, irritated look.

"I had a feeling tonight would be another sleepless one," she said lazily. "So—who's causing trouble now?"

She didn't need to say Natalia's name out loud. The message landed anyway: ever since you arrived, everyone's peace has been over.

Andres forgot his concern about Lucifer for a second and went straight to Maeve.

"You just showered. Your hair isn't even dry—why are you out here in the night air?"

The early autumn night had a sharp, nippy edge to it. He didn't want her getting sick again.

Maeve gave him a look that said he was overreacting.

"I don't care what's happening to other people," she said. "But Lucifer is my kid."

"If something's wrong with him, you think I'm going to sit inside and pretend I didn't hear?"

She made a small gesture toward Lucifer.

"Come here."

Lucifer had been sluggish, almost depressed—but the second Maeve called, he sprang with reckless desperation, launching himself up onto her.

Maeve pulled a small spray bottle from her pocket and spritzed Lucifer's head several times.

A faint scent drifted into the air.

Within seconds, Lucifer began to revive—his body tightening, his energy coming back.

Andres stared. "What's wrong with him?"

Maeve's gaze slid to Natalia, who was doing her best to look innocent and pitiful.

"Why don't you ask Natalia what she did to him?"

Natalia's eyes widened. She hadn't expected Maeve to turn the blade on her.

"Are you kidding? I'm the victim."

No one had even bothered to help her up, so she struggled to her feet herself.

"I treated Madam's legs, and I was going to wash up and go to bed."

"And then it happened."

She pointed at Lucifer, trembling.

Andres had a brief, stunned thought:

They've reached the point where they'll worship her on command?

He believed Maeve had a reason for asking—but even when he took a careful breath, he didn't catch anything unusual.

Natalia's voice sharpened. "Miss Vance, are you really going to point the finger at me and say I'm making trouble?"

Maeve smiled, pleasant as a knife.

"Your first day here and you've already stirred up this much chaos. If you're not tired, I'm tired for you."

"Natalia—was it really enough that I said Lucifer was my son? That's all it took for you to hold a grudge?"

"Everyone who works at Azure Bay knows Lucifer never leaves the main house on his own."

"So explain something to me."

"Why was he in your room?"

Natalia snapped, "Because you hate me and you sent him!"

Maeve's eyes flicked to Lucifer. "Does he have the ability to attack you?"
