Divorce Failed! My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 410

Just as he was about to hit the dirt, Maeve shot her hand out and yanked him back up, saving him from a nasty fall.

Ian's face instantly flushed. "Uh... thanks."

Maeve smiled lightly. "No problem."

She turned to leave, only to pause when she saw what he had tripped over: an emerald guardian beast.

Maeve pointed at it with her chin. "What's that supposed to be doing?"

Ian looked at her like she'd asked the dumbest question in the world.

"It's to ward off evil. You're in this line of work, too; you seriously don't know what it does?"

Maeve stared at him, exhausted by his sheer ignorance. "How long have you been studying the craft?"

"Three years," Ian replied proudly.

"And you actually graduated?"

"I don't know what you're trying to imply, Miss Vance."

Maeve suddenly felt a flicker of curiosity. "Judging by your clothes, you come from money."

Elijah walked over, answering the question for her.

"The Grover Family of Aethelburg. I don't know if you've heard of them."

A sharp gleam flashed in Maeve's eyes, gone before anyone could catch it.

"How are you related to Simon Grover?"

Ian looked surprised. "You know my cousin?"

Ah, cousins.

Maeve flashed a smile that didn't reach her eyes.

"Met him once. We're not close. He did a guest lecture at my university."

"Don't tell me you go to Aethelburg University?" Ian asked.

Maeve didn't deny it.

The revelation actually made Elijah view her in a different light.

"Anyone who can get into Aethelburg University is a genius. I guess I severely underestimated you, Miss Vance."

"Using it to clear the toxicity and block malevolent forces makes perfect sense."

Maeve looked at them with profound pity.

"I honestly thought The Luminary Order was supposed to be impressive. But this is all you've got?"

Ian looked incredibly offended. "Okay, now you're definitely just throwing insults."

Maeve didn't coddle him.

"Guardian beasts and guardian lions aren't part of the human domain; they belong to the realm of spirits."

"And both are specifically used to attract wealth. They belong in a storefront or a corporate lobby."

"When it comes to neutralizing a death curse, their power is completely useless."

"If you absolutely had to place an artifact here, a stone turtle would have actually fit the energy of this courtyard."

"Turtles symbolize peace, longevity, and health."

"I thought this was basic, entry-level knowledge, but apparently, you guys are absolute amateurs."
