Divorce Failed! My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 938

Maeve wanted to point out that since she and Andres practically lived in each other's pockets, exchanging bonuses was entirely unnecessary.

Andres gave Hans a quick signal.

Moments later, Hans returned carrying a pre-prepared gift box.

The box was perfectly square and slightly larger than a stack of printing paper.

Wrapped in bright pink paper, it was topped with an obnoxiously large decorative bow.

Taking the box from Hans, Andres personally presented it to Maeve.

"Happy New Year, Maeve."

Maeve looked at it suspiciously. "Don't tell me you baked a cake yourself?"

Judging by the weight when she took it, a cake seemed highly probable.

She reached for the ribbon to untie it, but Andres gently caught her hand.

"Wait until we get back to our room to open it."

Maeve still wanted to tear into the paper. "If it's a cake, we should share it with everyone."

Andres stopped her again, flashing a cryptic smile.

"This is one cake I made exclusively for you."

Sofia laughed, joining in on the fun. "Look at him being so possessive. He acts like we're going to steal a bite."

She playfully helped Andres stop Maeve from opening the box.

"Since Andres prepared this just for you, we won't fight you for it. Take it upstairs and enjoy it in peace."

Maeve was about to argue that she didn't even have a sweet tooth, but against the combined efforts of the mother-son duo, she had no choice.

She gave up on opening the present in front of the crowd.

Amid the cheerful laughter, the grand gift-giving ceremony finally came to a close.

Due to her pregnancy, Maeve found her eyelids drooping heavily shortly after the midnight bells chimed.

Andres had someone escort her back to the bedroom to rest, while he was ordered to stay behind for a private chat with his mother.

"I am telling you, there is absolutely nothing going on between me and Nancy Grover."

"My illness back then had absolutely nothing to do with her."

Sofia clearly didn't buy it.

"If it wasn't about her, why were you murmuring 'don't go, don't go' while you were on your deathbed?"

"Mom, your son is perfectly alive and well. Describing me as being on my deathbed is a bit dramatic, don't you think?"

It was true what they said—once the daughter-in-law arrived, the son was forgotten.

Compared to Maeve, his status in his mother's heart was plummeting by the day.

Sofia glared fiercely at her son.

"Don't try to change the subject. I don't care what kind of feelings you had for Nancy in the past."

"Now that you have Maeve, you better lock down your heart and stop fooling around with other women."

"Especially since Maeve is currently carrying the future of the White family. I will not tolerate a single mistake right now."

"Not only is Maeve the wife your father personally chose for you before he died, but she is also the only daughter-in-law I will ever acknowledge."
