Under Benjamin's dangerously calm gaze, Daisy pointed a trembling finger at Leah.
"She... she said Maeve got pregnant out of wedlock to be a mistress, and then accused me of stealing her boyfriend."
Benjamin's grip tightened imperceptibly, his expression turning ice-cold as he stared Leah down.
"You actually think my sister is some rich guy's mistress?"
Tears of agony welled in Leah's eyes.
"Who is your sister?"
Benjamin sneered. "Maeve Vance!"
Leah felt her vision swim.
Since when did Maeve have a terrifying, mafia-boss-looking brother?
Wait, who actually was this guy?
Benjamin wasn't one to observe gentlemen's rules. He casually backhanded Leah across the face.
"If I ever hear you speaking garbage like that again, I guarantee you won't live to see the sun rise. Get the hell out!"
Leah couldn't even keep track of how many times she had been humiliated because of Maeve.
Her cheek burned with agonizing heat.
Her survival instincts screamed that this terrifying man was not someone she could mess with.
Her squad of mean girls was already paralyzed with fear, too terrified to even breathe loudly.
At Benjamin's barked order, the girls scattered like terrified mice.
They had no choice but to run.
Benjamin hadn't come alone. Over a dozen massive bodyguards were fanned out behind him.
A group of college girls didn't stand a chance against professional muscle.
Plus, this bald man clearly had zero moral qualms about striking a woman. He was dangerous.
Realizing her situation was critical, Leah abandoned her pride and sprinted away like her life depended on it.
Daisy stood her ground. "We simply aren't in that kind of relationship."
Benjamin shrugged effortlessly. "I didn't mind acting as your shield, so why are you whining about it?"
Daisy realized reasoning with a man like Benjamin was entirely pointless.
She reached to unlock her bike, but Benjamin's heavy arm blocked her path. He issued a flat command.
"Move into my house."
Daisy stared at him, doubting her own hearing. "Excuse me?"
Benjamin's expression was dead serious. "After you moved out, Maeve chewed me out."
Daisy's voice went up an octave. "What?"
Benjamin crossed his arms. "I'm not asking for your opinion. I am ordering you to move into my house, because you owe me."
Daisy was completely lost.
"Boss Bright, what exactly do I owe you?"
