Chapter 112 The Real Target
Kaleb said, “Fine. If it works out, dinner’s on me.”
Ayla threw another paper ball at him.
This time, Kaleb didn’t dodge. It hit him lightly on the bridge of his nose, just a little ticklish.
He didn’t care. “Don’t get caught. Otherwise, you’ll be locked up for years.”
Ayla had clearly thought this through. There was no way she’d slip up.
She asked, “So, you do care about me.”
“Care about you? What are you thinking? I just don’t want you dragging me down.”
Ayla didn’t respond.
Kaleb added, “Zane’s just the muscle. Troy’s the one really pulling the strings.”

Winston Group was a giant. Ayla only had the tech and Kaleb’s company had nearly fallen apart. Together, they were like ants compared to Troy. Fighting back wouldn’t be easy.
They couldn’t hit Troy the same way they hit Zane. It wouldn’t make much of a difference.
Kaleb just wanted Ayla to drop it. But ever since she mentioned divorce, he’d stopped doubting her resolve.
Their relationship might be strained, but Kaleb knew one thing-once Ayla made up her mind, she’d see it through.
Ayla hadn’t forgotten what Troy did. “Yeah, I know.”
After Ayla left, Emmett decided to come clean about the hundred million. Once Kaleb found out, Ayla would be even more connected to them.
“Kaleb, I need to tell you something about that hundred million …
Kaleb cut him off impatiently. “Yeah, yeah. Keep working on raising capital.”
Emmett paused. “Actually, that hundred million-”
“I know it’s a big deal,” Kaleb said flatly, “but it’s still not enough. Ayla helped us out big time. She won’t take my money, but I’m still giving it.”
15 million dollars-he hated to part with it. Maybe he’d give a little less, but not nothing at all.
Kaleb had already noticed Ayla looked paler than before. Her eyes were red, probably from staying up late to help him.
She had put in the effort, and he could see it.

Kaleb wanted to raise the money to pay Ayla. But if he found out she had already invested a hundred million in the company, he wouldn’t know what to do-should he still give her money or not?
Better to pay her first. They’d figure out the rest later.
All week, Ayla had been pulling all-nighters. She finally finished the firewall.
She added a grammar analysis module that could detect deeply hidden malicious code. It was a dynamic, intelligent defense system.
The higher the protection level, the harder it was to build.
No wonder it took her a day just to patch the model, and nearly a full week to finish the firewall.
She built the entire thing on her own and it was perfect. Everyone in the tech department was blown away again.
This model could sell for a fortune on its own.
Sure, competition in every field was fierce. But if you reached the top, money would never a problem.
Kaleb knew Ayla was planning to attack Zane. So he called a meeting with the tech team and made everyone swear to keep quiet.
The whole department basically worshiped Ayla. They were more than willing to help.
Besides, someone as skilled as Ayla, with no public reputation? She had to be a low-key genius. The less attention she got, the more time she had. That meant more chances to learn from her. It’s a win-win situation.
Ayla was completely worn out. She slept through Saturday morning and finally felt a little better when she woke up.
At 3 p.m., Martin’s flight was scheduled to land at Trensea International Airport.
She’d been waiting for it.
Because she had a complaint to file with Martin.
She didn’t have the power to go up against Winston Group. The bigger the enemy, the higher the cost. Even with Draven’s help, she’d never planned to take them on directly.
But everyone had a weak spot.
Zane cared about his reputation and money. Ayla had a way to hit his company where it hurt.
Troy didn’t love her, but he wanted her to obey. So, she’d stop obeying.
Troy hated Draven? Fine, she’d side with Draven. Troy respected Martin? Great. She’d go straight to Martin

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
