Draven was right here. Not using this chance would be waste.

Even though they had walked out together and Troy was already upset, the damage still wasn’t enough.

A dangerous idea suddenly popped into Ayla’s head-she wanted to kiss Draven on the cheek and make Troy explode.

It would’ve worked, too. Draven had said earlier that there might be “unnecessary physical contact.”

Ayla felt a wave of regret hit her. A quick kiss like that would’ve been totally acceptable.

Too bad she had missed the perfect moment.

“Are you upset?”

Ayla answered, “I’m not.”

“Then what’s with your expression?”

Ayla normally hid her emotions well, but Draven’s ability to read people was sharp.

“A little regret,” she admitted.

Draven’s grip on the steering wheel tightened. “Regret leaving him?”

“No! Mr. Storm, do you still not believe me?”

“I can’t think of anything else you’d regret.”

“I regret not kissing you just now.”

Draven froze.

What did she mean by that?

He hadn’t seen any hint that Ayla felt anything for him.

So he had to take the lead.

If Ayla did like him even a little, Draven wouldn’t keep holding back.

His goal was Ayla, and if he saw a chance, he wouldn’t waste it.

She quickly explained, “Mr. Storm, don’t misunderstand. It just would’ve been the perfect moment. If I kissed you while Troy was watching, the impact would’ve been insane.”

Draven stayed silent.

“I wasn’t trying to take advantage of you. Think about it—if James or anyone he knows was around, and 1/3

kissed you, how would I even explain it? James would probably announce on the spot that we’re getting married. I’m just giving an example. But it really was a great chance.”

Ayla had already decided-whenever she ran into Troy, she wanted him to be the one suffering more.

She’d explained everything clearly. She didn’t know if Draven believed her.

He didn’t speak right away.

Just when Ayla started worrying, Draven finally said, “You didn’t react fast enough.”

Ayla nodded. “Yeah. I didn’t.”

“And why is that?”

“Maybe… I don’t have much experience.”

A red light. The car stopped.

Draven suddenly leaned in toward her. Ayla caught a clean, cool scent from him. He gave her his cheek. “Try it.”

Ayla froze.

She didn’t move, so Draven turned his head. “If you won’t try, then I will. Next time you hesitate, I’ll take the lead.”

Ayla was stunned.

And Draven was definitely a man of action.

He lifted her chin with one hand. Right as his lips were about to touch her cheek, he stopped.

His warm breath brushed across her skin.

His voice was right beside her ear.

“Do you hate it?”

Ayla’s heart raced. Her mind went blank.

After a second or two, Draven let her go. His tone was cool. “It’s not that you lack experience. You’re just

scared.”

His eyes were dark and deep, hiding something she couldn’t read. “Ayla, you’re afraid to get close to me. Even when you see a good chance, you can’t seem to take it.”

Ayla wanted to explain.

But Draven continued, “You still haven’t fully decided to make Troy hurt for real.”

That hit something inside her-and a spark of anger flickered. All this time, Draven kept assuming she still had feelings for Troy. He kept doubting her resolve.

And out of everyone around her, Draven was the only one still testing her.
