Isabella thought that Ayla was just Troy's live-in helper, someone who used to bring packed lunches to the office.
She hadn't shown up at all this past month.
Troy didn't reveal much, so Isabella tracked down Nadia, who had resigned almost a month ago. Nadia had once spoken with Ayla on the phone and was later caught red-handed by Jed.
After just a few lines of small talk, Isabella managed to get the truth out of her.
That was when Isabella learned that the woman who used to deliver sandwiches was actually the CEO's hidden wife of three years.
Isabella was completely stunned. She'd always thought Skyla was the future Mrs. Winston for sure. After all, Troy wore matching couple rings with her, and he'd even introduced her to all the senior executives.
But then Isabella remembered that ever since a week ago, Troy had stopped wearing his diamond ring. And according to Nadia, Ayla had decided to get a divorce.
Isabella thought back to Troy's strange behavior a week ago and reached a conclusion. Troy and Ayla were already divorced.
Mr. Winston got divorced, and now he's suddenly investigating his ex-wife.
There's only one possibility. Mr. Winston regrets it.
Jed had known Ayla's identity all along but never showed her any respect. After the divorce, he didn't notice the shift in Troy's attitude and ended up angering him. That had to be why Troy called her.
Workplace competition was brutal. In front of Jed, Isabella had no choice but to keep her head down.
Now that she'd figured out Troy's mindset, she knew exactly what to do.
Isabella got to work immediately. As the CEO's chief secretary at Winston Group, she had extensive connections in both business and government circles. Investigating someone should've been easy. Yet the result came back completely empty!
Isabella knew this was a critical turning point in her career. She couldn't come up empty-handed. She had to seize this chance.
She stayed up all night and kept sending people out to dig for information during the day. Finally, she had something to report.
"Mr. Winston, I couldn't find any direct link between Ayla and Sol. But Ayla is definitely connected to racing. I gathered all available footage from Sol's races, along with any surviving track surveillance. Ayla appeared at Sol's races, more than once."
Troy frowned. "That's it?"
Isabella couldn't help getting nervous. "Yes. From the surveillance footage, we only managed to extract blurry images. I've sent you all the race videos and the photos we obtained."
Troy replied with a hum.
Isabella finally let out a breath. At least she had something to report.
Even if it didn't fully satisfy Troy, there was still the next task.
The video showed a tall woman in a racing suit, her helmet completely covering her face. Other than her build, nothing could be seen.
Sol didn't want to reveal her identity.
Then came footage of the race itself. Her movements were sharp, fluid, and powerful. This was pure talent, combined with control and aesthetic beauty. Because of the helmet, no one could see her eyes, but that gaze had to be fierce.
For some reason, Troy thought of Ayla.
When she drove, one hand resting on the window frame and the other turning the wheel, she reversed neatly into the parking spot in one smooth, effortless motion.
That move was incredibly cool.
And Sol's build looks a bit like Ayla's.
Could they be the same person?
The thought flashed through Troy's mind, then he immediately dismissed it. Bria said Ayla was Sol's friend. She picked up her driving skills from Sol.
But the fact that they are friends is wild on its own.
For the past three years, Ayla has revolved entirely around me.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
