Chapter 42 ne CEUS Half-brother
Chapter 42 The CEO’s Half-Brother
Draven said, “Find whoever gave it to you.”
Ayla replied, “I don’t have his contact information.”
“So what?”
Ayla remained silent.
So she should not have treated Draven as a middleman and created trouble for him.
Ayla understood and was prepared to leave.
Before she turned around, Draven’s cool voice came from behind. “It’s only a cup. James won’t take your money.”
Although they had met only once, James was extremely sociable and therefore certainly generous with money. Ayla also knew he would not care about the cost.
She simply wanted to avoid unnecessary ties. She didn’t want to owe favors, nor did she want to take advantage of anyone for no reason.
Ayla came up with a solution, so she said nothing more and turned to leave.
When she returned to her desk, Sacha’s expression looked a little strange.
Sacha wore every thought on her face and could not hide a thing.
Ayla asked, “What’s wrong?”
Sacha lowered her voice. “I asked my husband. It turns out Draven actually has a connection to the Winston Group.”
This was something very few people knew.
Ayla had never asked about Sacha’s husband, but it was likely that he moved in similar circles. Otherwise, he would not know such confidential matters.
Thinking Ayla knew nothing, Sacha continued, “The CEO of the Winston Group, Troy, is actually our CEO’s half-brother. I was so shocked because I met Troy recently.
“On Monday, the day I took leave, I went to a dinner gathering with my husband. I happened to see Troy with his wife. Their relationship is extremely good.”
Ayla’s hand, resting on her mousepad, paused.

Sacha’s husband was probably not part of Troy’s core circle. Otherwise, he would not have mistaken Skyla’s identity.
Ayla hesitated but still asked, “How good is their relationship?”
Sacha said, “My husband treats me well, so I know what it looks like when a man treats a woman well. Troy took photos of his wife, searching every angle with patience, extremely attentive, until his wife was satisfied.
“His wife seems to be called Skyla. No one had heard of her before, but now almost everyone who has dealings with the Winston Group knows her. Many people secretly send her gifts, hoping to build a connection with the Winstons
The Winstons were old money in Trensea. From Martin’s generation until now, their network of influence could not be replaced. New tycoons like Conrad, who had risen with the tides of the times, could not even find a way to send gifts to them.
Naturally, many people wanted to curry favor with the Winstons.
Ayla had always known Troy liked Skyla, but it had been only a vague concept.
This past week, she had felt, through countless details, how deeply Troy cared for Skyla.
And she had been shocked that the cold and distant Troy, who had treated her like a block of ice, was capable of loving someone to such an extent.
Once a person witnessed love like that with their own eyes, they would never narcissistically ask, “Why don’t you love me?” or “What must I do for you to look at me?”
With feelings that deep, no one could insert themselves into the space between them.
Ayla’s past efforts to warm Troy’s heart had indeed been nothing more than wishful thinking.
She admitted defeat, even if the truth made her feel hurt, sore, and bitter. At least it forced her to see reality and stopped her from being foolish.
Yet she could not help feeling confused. If Troy loved Skyla that much, why had he married her three years ago?
If he did not love her, he could have simply refused.
Troy was not the type to bow under pressure. Even if Martin had forced him, he should have
been able to resist.
Sacha glanced toward Blake’s office, made sure it was safe, and then continued to slack off. “But one thing I’m very certain of. Troy is extremely handsome, but he still cannot compare to our CEO.”

Ayla returned from her thoughts and teased, “Your husband will get jealous.”
“He won’t know if you don’t tell him.”
Of course, Sacha trusted Ayla not to expose her. She continued sighing, “Their father’s genes are truly excellent.”
Indeed, Eric had won the favor of a high-society lady in Zheron. His looks had played a
crucial role.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
