Chapter 449 Brianna Lennon

:

She said, “Ms. Keaton, give Mr. Winston one more chance. He really has changed.”

Ayla replied, “Ms. Shortle, you’re that free at work?”

Isabella didn’t try to convince her again; she simply turned and got back into the car.

After the car pulled away, Hannah studied the business card but didn’t throw it out. “Don’t buy what she said. Men don’t change-unless they’re faking it. To get a woman, a jerk can cosplay as Prince Charming. A ton of actresses in this business have fallen for that act.”

Ayla didn’t bother explaining that Troy didn’t even respect her enough to fake anything. Sure, his attitude was different now-he’d lowered himself-but only because he wanted to end up remarried. He had zero patience for actually getting to know her.

His cruelty was blatant and honest; the contempt in his words was loud and clear. At his core, he’d never changed at all-different route, same destination.

“Speaking from experience, men don’t change,” she agreed without hesitation.

“Troy could become a saint, and I still wouldn’t have the blessing to ‘enjoy’ it. Whatever he turns into has nothing to do with me anymore.”

Down at the far corner of the street.

Herman saw the whole thing, every detail.

The pressure rolling off the man beside him was so dark and heavy it made Herman want to bail out of the car and run.

He didn’t even dare open his mouth.

He waited a long time-only when Ayla and Hannah finally got into their car and drove off did he let himself breathe.

Herman still didn’t dare look back at his expression. Even Storm Group’s usually smooth vice president was stammering. “D-Draven, are you

you okay?”

Draven’s face barely moved, but the feeling he gave off was terrifying.

The driver in the front seat was so stiff it was like he’d stopped breathing.

Draven was not okay. He lowered his eyes; jealousy hit hard enough that he honestly felt like it could push a person over the edge.

“Maybe call Ayla and ask? Or even if you don’t, I’m sure she’ll explain it to you,” Herman said, genuinely worried.

Draven looked over at him.

Herman saw that his gaze had gone pitch-dark. He’d known Draven for years-Draven’s chill came from not liking close contact with people, a pure, quiet cold that was nothing like Troy’s arrogant, performative pride.

Draven was usually pretty laid-back.

But right now, Herman could tell there was finally something Draven truly cared about—that was the only way to get that kind of look in his eyes.

Herman lowered his voice. “How about you call Ayla now?”

Draven only dragged the corner of his mouth up in a cold half-smile. “I don’t want to know anything.”

Looked like Ayla and Troy had reached some kind of temporary truce; she didn’t seem to need him to step in.

What he couldn’t wrap his head around was how they could still stand there and talk so calmly after how ugly things had been before.

Maybe it was that kind of familiarity-you know all of someone’s little tempers, you’ve seen every version of them, so nothing they say is really off-limits anymore…

Draven wasn’t misreading Ayla; he knew she wasn’t the type to go back to an ex.

It was just that the easy familiarity and unspoken understanding between her and Troy was something he couldn’t touch. Calling Ayla now to dig for details would only confirm that gap.

Why torture himself like that?

Ayla had no idea Draven had been there. She’d met with a director today, put faces to a lot of actors’ names; she and Hannah had their hands full.

They headed straight back to the office.

On the way, she asked Hannah for Isabella’s business card. Hannah handed it over, and Ayla took it, tore it into pieces, and dropped it in the trash.

As soon as they got back, they went straight into a meeting.

Ayla had already told Samantha to keep a close eye on Casey and make sure he didn’t and then she started planning his next project.

get hurt,

The bodyguard to the male lead was just a supporting role; Casey’s character would exit halfway through, so his shoot schedule wouldn’t be long.

The screenwriter Hannah had already poached and had a polished script ready. The whole team was in place; once Casey wrapped this drama, he could slide straight into the new one without missing a beat.

They’d shortlisted a few actresses for the female lead, but hadn’t locked anyone in yet.

“Ms. Keaton, did you notice the third female lead today-Brianna Lennon?” Hannah asked. “On the action rehearsal set, she kept teasing Casey, and the two of them had real couple vibes, real chemistry. Funny enough, the way they bounce off each other matches the dynamic of our male and female leads almost perfectly.”

Hannah went on, “I’ve had a bunch of meetings with the writer and director about this show’s female lead. Her look and personality line up really well with Brianna. She was already on our list to approach; I just didn’t expect her and Casey to click that well on set. It makes her feel like an even better fit.”

The show’s writer also laid out the female lead’s character profile and the kind of chemistry they wanted between the main couple.

At Hannah’s signal, the screenwriter pulled up Brianna’s previous filmography. She was strikingly beautiful, the kind of beauty that hit you right in the chest, but she’d mostly played love-obsessed, unhinged women who flamed out fast-on screen for a few scenes, stunning the audience for a moment, then gone.

Ayla was genuinely impressed by Brianna’s emotional scenes and blurted, surprised, “How is she not already huge?”

“She only has a solo agent, no backing to push her. Every job she’s gotten so far, she’s fought for in open auditions. The second she started to stand out, she got stomped on by fans of other characters in the same show. It’s hard for her to break through,” Hannah said, taking the file her assistant handed over and passing it to Ayla.

Ayla flipped through it. Brianna was classically-trained, with great fundamentals. Ayla asked Hannah, “She can’t be short on offers from agencies. Why hasn’t she signed with anyone yet?”

Hannah said, “She really doesn’t have a home company. Big agencies don’t need another actress of her type, and even if they sign her, they don’t have the spare resources to really push her. Small agencies can’t give her what she’s aiming for.”
