Chapter 486 New Update
The report only came through because it was so out of character.
Draven knew Troy better than anyone. He wouldn’t have cared about a tie.
It had to be from Ayla.

A sharp throb hit the side of Draven’s head. The second that image of Ayla giving that tie to Troy popped up in his mind, his body reacted before he could even think.
Every hour, every day-they’d actually shared all of that together.
He’d told himself so many times that the past didn’t matter. That none of it counted. But when it played out that vividly, when it felt that real, the jealousy was brutal.
Maybe it hadn’t started now. Maybe it had always been buried in him.
Troy hated him.
Draven had wanted to be him.
Because back then, Troy had everything. Draven had nothing.
As a kid, he couldn’t understand how some kids got to live with that kind of happiness.
He didn’t know what to do with that emotion, so he shut it down. Blocked it out. Buried it.
And now? Now it had clawed its way back to the surface.
The hit came fast. Too fast.
Ayla once told him he was the perfect boyfriend. But if she ever found out what was really going on in his head, if she ever saw that he couldn’t even handle something like this … would she still want him?
Ayla glanced over, noticing something was off. “What’s wrong?”
She wasn’t driving fast.
So it couldn’t be motion sickness.
Draven turned off his phone and pressed his fingers to his brow. “Probably the alcohol.”

Ayla cracked the window. “Let the air hit
your face.”

He was supposed to be the one protecting her. Now he was the one making her worry. And even though he loved it when she cared about him, he hated being the reason she had to.
She caught that too. “Draven, talk to me.”
Draven reached for her hand. He held it and rubbed his thumb over her skin. That touch settled him down more than anything else could. It was like his mind needed it. He didn’t want her wasting a single drop of energy on his inconsequential mess.
“I’m good. I swear.”
“You’re not just good. You’re always amazing,” Ayla said. But she looked over at him again. He still looked like the man everyone saw-polished, unreadable, and cool.
Even if something had gone wrong, he would find a way to fix it. She wasn’t worried.
She gave his hand a squeeze. “I got you something.”
“What is it?” Draven shoved down the noise in his chest.
“A tie.” She’d seen Troy wearing the one she gave him. No way Draven wasn’t getting one too.
She had way more to give him. That’s what happened when you liked someone. You just kept giving. And Draven had done the same for her, over and over.
Draven’s eyes darkened a little.
Now he had one too.
“Show me.”
Ayla waited until the light turned red. Then she reached into her bag and pulled out a gift box. “Picked it up on my way here.”
Draven took the box from her hands. Inside was a black and gold tie with a low-key diamond weave. Sharp. Elegant. Quietly rich.
“You like it?”
“I love it.” Draven had everything a man could ask for. But when it came from her, it turned into something else.
Their life together was slowly stacking up. One small memory at a time.

Ayla saw the way his eyes shifted. He didn’t just look happy. He looked genuinely moved. She hadn’t expected a simple gift to do that much.
He didn’t seem like someone who missed out on gifts.
But maybe he was exactly that kind of guy. Someone who craved being spoiled but had never actually been.
People like that were usually the easiest to make happy.
Because no one ever had.
With the title he held, there were definitely people who tried to suck up to him. Melody could probably pull it off, too. But Draven didn’t give warmth to people he didn’t want around. He shut them down so fast it froze them out before they ever got the chance.
The light turned green. Ayla stepped on the gas. “I’ll keep them coming.”
She could already imagine it. If they were home, Draven wouldn’t just say thanks. He’d wrap her
up and kiss her for it. He’d hold her close for a while.
But in the car, he was limited.
Draven never explained how he felt with words. You had to look at what he did.
Like right now. He was straight-up staring at her.
The buzzing from his phone rattled against the console, but he didn’t even blink.
Ayla gave his arm a light nudge. “Mr. Storm. Your phone’s ringing.”
Draven blinked back to focus. He looked down at the screen. The shift in his expression was instant. Cold and sharp. Ayla didn’t have to turn around. She felt it right away. The air in the car got heavier.
That feeling hadn’t shown up in a while,
Back when she was just his assistant, the weight of his presence could leave her tense for hours, though that presence seldom reared its head.
Draven stared down at the screen.
Ayla thought he might ignore it. But after what felt like forever, he picked up the call.
