Chapter 49 A Genius Never Falls Behind
Halle watched Ayla work and was completely blown away. It reminded her of the Ayla who used to spend all her time in the lab. She even zoned out for a second.
Yeah, divorce is the right move.
Now that Ayla had broken free from that marriage trap, she was glowing and amazing.
Just one move, and she won over the whole team.
They were usually full of themselves, but now they were ready to bow to Ayla.
“Stop trying to dig for info.”
Someone couldn’t help it and bravely said, “Ms. Kinsman, isn’t LugiX planning an update? We’re running into a lot of issues. If your friend could give us a few tips, it’d make things way easier.”
“Is she not busy? Enough, all of you-figure it out yourselves. Stop trying to cling to her!”
Halle took Ayla back into her office.
She immediately emailed Norris, saying they could start the collaboration, but the data needed repeat testing for stability, so it would take about two weeks.
Ayla sat on the couch, watching her finish up. “I thought you’d ask me for help while you had the chance.”
Halle hit send, walked over, took a sip of the coffee Ayla brought her, and grinned. “Of course I want to. But I know the thing you want most right now is to finish your thesis. So I’ll leave you alone for now. Once you’re done, I won’t hold back. It’s a ten-million project. I’d be stupid not to take it.”
Ayla froze for a moment.
Her friend actually remembered her priorities and respected them.
She never got that from Troy.
When Ayla first decided to get divorced, it felt like she was being forced into it.
But now, she was more and more sure.
Divorcing him was the right choice.

Ayla smiled. “Almost done.”
Halle didn’t get it at first. Two seconds later, she realized Ayla meant the thesis was almost ready to be published. She slumped like all her energy had vanished. “I give up.”
Ayla was confused.
“Ayla, you’re seriously too much.”
Halle had thought that after being out of the game for three years, Ayla might struggle to keep up with the fast-changing market.
Turns out she worried for nothing. Ayla was a genius who was already ahead of the industry three years ago. She was always meant to stand out.
Ayla said, “I’ve been studying harder than ever lately. I’ve already finished part of my thesis.”
“Hehe. Geniuses really do learn faster, huh.
“All right then.”
Ayla decided not to humble herself too much-because her progress was indeed fast.
Just then, someone knocked on the door. “Ms. Kinsman, the Agron University alum we wanted to introduce to you has arrived. Are you available to see her now?”
John Jacquet had just received a message from Skyla saying she had arrived early.
Because there was access control downstairs, he had to go downstairs to get her.
When Ayla arrived earlier, he happened to be heading down, so he had no idea what had happened in those ten minutes.
Halle frowned. “Let Louisa in.”
Louisa Jacinto was Halle’s secretary.
Louisa entered the office with John.

John glanced around. Halle was sitting on the leather guest couch, and across from her was a woman in a suit. Since her back was to him, he could only see the back of her head and had no idea who she was.
Earlier, when he passed the work area, his colleagues seemed really excited-maybe because of this woman?
But he didn’t have time to ask.

Because Skyla’s visit mattered more.
Louisa checked the schedule after hearing John’s explanation. She frowned. “The
appointment isn’t until next week. Why is she here carly? And I don’t see any updated appointments.”
John said, “She told me it’s urgent. She only texted me when she was already downstairs, so I panicked and brought her in.”
By the end, John sounded guilty.
Bringing in visitors without going through proper approval was a big no-no.
Halle sneered. She already thought this Agron University alum was a bit pretentious, and now her impression was even worse. But since she was already here, Halle decided to see who this person really was.
Ayla still remembered Halle asking her to check this person out earlier.
“Want me to go?”

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
