Shirley didn’t know about this before, but now she listened to what Bria said.
Without Bria, she wouldn’t have met someone as kind as Ayla, and she wouldn’t have joined such a fun and welcoming company.
After Shirley signed the contract, the company gave her a temporary assistant. The assistant helped her move from her old, broken apartment into a temporary place Bria had arranged for her.
The address was a luxury apartment close to the office. It was very big and looked brand new, like no one had ever lived there. Everything was brand new-designer decorations, like the work of an artist. Through the big living room windows, she could even see Trensea’s landmark buildings in the distance.
“Bria, didn’t you say this was an old place?” Shirley asked.
There was nothing old about it at all.
Shirley had secretly looked up the prices in this complex just now-4,000 to 5,000 dollars per square foot. It was one of the newest buildings from a year or two ago. The neighborhood was amazing.
Bria said, “I had it fixed up, but I never lived here. It’s been sitting empty for a year or two. If that’s not old, what is? Just stay here. You can live here as long as you want.”
Shirley didn’t feel right taking such a nice place. But if she tried to refuse, Bria would look at her with a firm, serious stare, never blinking.
Shirley had never seen a woman as beautiful as Bria. Her strong, gorgeous stare made Shirley feel like she couldn’t even look back, let alone say no.
After Bria, Andrew, and the assistant left, Shirley pinched the thin skin on her arm. “Ouch!” It hurts. This isn’t a dream!
Only then did Shirley relax. She pulled off the dust covers and sat down on the couch. It was soft, like sitting on a cloud. Only then did she notice it was white. She felt like she’d done something wrong and jumped up, panicking for a few seconds. When she realized she was alone, she let out a breath and sat down on a dining chair to rest.
Her phone buzzed. Shirley thought it was someone from her new company contacting her, but it was an entertainment news notification.
She didn’t care at first until she saw the name. It was the producer who had almost tried to take advantage of her.
Shirley opened the news right away. It wasn’t gossip about a new show. It was a scandal.
After reading it, her hands trembled slightly.
Then she felt chills all over.
She had only one thought: the entertainment industry is way too dark.
She never expected that this producer would have private photos leaked. The pictures were blurred, but you could still tell he was lying in bed in a very inappropriate pose. His face was not fully blurred, and he looked drunk. He clearly didn’t know someone had taken the photos.
That producer was someone even Shirley’s old boss wouldn’t dare cross, and yet someone managed to get him.
Wow, there’s always someone bigger and smarter out there!

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
