Chapter 585 Old Voices
Ayla took advantage of spring break to travel with Draven.
They did not go abroad. Instead, they went to Casey’s hometown, a place famous for its food.
Casey had taken two days off from the production at the end of the year to go home for holiday. When he heard that Ayla and Draven were traveling there, he immediately invited them to his house.
They had not planned to go, but Casey was far too enthusiastic. It felt impossible to refuse, so Ayla agreed.
Casey’s parents ran a small restaurant business.was not a big operation. They closed the shop during the holiday and cooked at home instead. When they heard that their son’s boss was coming, they went grocery shopping the night before and started preparing early in the morning.
When Ayla and Draven arrived, Casey’s parents were completely stunned. “I thought Casey was already handsome enough. How can there be people this good-looking? Are you two even real? Come in, hurry!” they said in disbelie
Albert and Lorelei Robson were probably very into looks when they were younger. They themselves were good-looking, and Casey had inherited their best features, which was why he was attractive enough to act.
Albert did not stare at Ayla for long. He kept his eyes on Draven. Lorelei, on the other hand,, did not even try to hide it. She could barely look away.
Their own son was pushed off to the side.
“It’s a bit modest hosting you at home,” Lorelei said politely as she ushered Ayla and Draven inside.
The presence they carried felt too strong for the small house, even though they were already very approachable. Lorelei could still tell they did not truly belong here.
On the way in, plenty of people in the neighborhood had probably stared at them.
“Eating at home feels warmer,” Ayla said. She could count on one hand the number of times she had eaten a family meal like this. Draven had it even worse, probably never at all. Watching Albert, Lorelei, and Casey interact as a family of three, both Ayla and Draven genuinely liked the atmosphere.
Lorelei was warm and open. During the meal, she talked about their restaurant, then moved on to the usual topic. “So when are you two getting married?”
Casey immediately cut in, “Mom, stop asking about my boss’s personal life. What if Ms. Keaton gets unhappy and fires me?”
Lorelei realized she had overstepped and laughed, quickly changing the subject.
Ayla had only been with Draven for a short time. She had once been firmly against getting married again, but now she was starting to waver
Both she and Draven were people who could make their own decisions. Getting married would not require telling anyone. They could just go to City Hall. But after marriage, there would be unavoidable issues, like having children.
Ayla found it difficult to get pregnant and did not want children. If marriage was not on the table, she would not think about these things. But if she did consider marriage, she would have to be honest with Draven.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
