Chapter 589 Beyond Human
Ayla could hardly believe what she had just heard. How could Troy say all of this in such a calm tone?
She studied the man in front of her carefully.
With Troy’s looks, presence, family background and abilities, all it took was a single glance for many people to willingly bow to him. He did not even need to put in any effort to get a woman who loved him more than she ever had!
And yet. And yet Troy chose to torment her instead. To torment the version of her who no longer loved him.
Troy continued flipping through the ultrasound photos.
Ayla finally snapped, “Stop flipping them.”
Troy stopped immediately, closed the folder, and looked obedient, almost well behaved.
Ayla stared into his eyes. The anger burst out of her like a roar from deep in her chest. “Why? Why did you do this?”
Two small lives that carried half of her DNA were about to be born. Just thinking about it felt unreal, mixed with an overwhelming sense of violation.
Those were two living human beings, not objects that could be casually created and used. How could he bring them into the world like this?
Had he ever thought about what they would face after they were born? How could he be this irresponsible?
Troy realized that he liked the way Ayla looked when she was angry. When Ayla felt nothing toward him, neither sadness nor joy, his heart sank deeper and deeper, as if he were locked in a bottomless abyss with no hope at all. But now, she still reacted to him. To Troy, it felt like he had found his cure.
“Ayla, I didn’t have any other choice,” he said.
Ayla growled, “What do you mean you didn’t have a choice? What kind of suffering did you go through? Were you poisoned? Is that why you had to do something this inhumane just to save yourself?”
“I already told you, I love you. Everything I did was to make you come back to me. I want you to remember me for the rest of your life,” Troy said. At that moment, Troy sounded completely insane.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
