Ayla's heart jumped heavily.
"Get up and eat," Draven said as he looked at her. "When you're sick, you need even more nutrition."
Ayla didn't move. The way Draven took care of her was something she could no longer accept as naturally as she used to.
And two hours earlier, she had completely lost control of her emotions. Just thinking about it made her feel deeply embarrassed.
If she hadn't been sick, she would never have broken down like that when facing Troy's threats.
Damn it.
People really shouldn't get sick.
Everything about them became weaker.
Ayla was truly afraid of showing weakness in front of anyone. Whenever that happened, she fell into self-disgust and overwhelming shame.
This was something she might never fully come to terms with for the rest of her life.
And Draven had seen everything. Even when they were dating in the past, she had rarely complained to him about her hardships. Right now, Ayla wanted to find a hole in the ground and crawl into it. She couldn't even relate to the person she had been two hours ago.
"When I was sleeping, were you taking care of me the whole time?" Ayla asked as she looked into his eyes.
"You were sick. Of course I had to stay by your side," Draven replied, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Ayla already knew the answer. "If you treat me this well, be careful it doesn't end up being for nothing."
Right now Draven didn't care about getting anything in return. He looked at her seriously. "As long as you stay healthy. I'm not asking for you to be happy every single day. If you can just go through fewer miserable things in life, that's enough for me."
Ayla frowned. "You don't need to do this..."
"Yes, I do, Ayla. I'm one of the reasons you're suffering right now. I was the one who forcibly took the children, and Troy said those things because he was pushed into a corner. So I should treat you well, and I should take responsibility for everything. You're sick, so I take care of you. That's only right," Draven said.
Ayla listened to his explanation. In the past, he wouldn't have said so much. Now he explained everything to her carefully. Strangely enough, after hearing Draven explain things again and again, she gradually accepted the fact that he was taking care of her.
"Alright. I'll leave Troy's situation to you."
Ayla wasn't the type who stubbornly forced herself to handle everything alone. The gap between her and Troy couldn't be overcome through effort. Whoever had the ability should deal with it.
Draven and Troy were competing with each other, even using the children as stakes. And they had done all of this without asking for her opinion. Their conflict definitely wasn't over yet. It would continue.
Ayla wanted to see how far these two brothers would push things in the end.
Right now she only had one thought. As long as the babies were safe, that was enough.
If Troy wanted to take the babies away, it would actually be better for them to stay with Draven.
How dare Troy treat Ayla like that? How could he possibly dare?

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
