Kaleb's older sister, Ayla, was a perfect example.
Andrew knew it, and Bria knew it too.
They knew where the problem was, but they couldn't fix it.
Every time she thought about lowering herself to apologize and beg him to stay, Bria would rather die.
Andrew watched Bria look at the photos, her gaze so intense that it was like she wanted to dive into them and drag Kaleb out herself, and he couldn't help feeling a little sorry for her.
When had this spoiled little princess, who always got whatever she wanted, ever suffered like this?
Andrew asked, "So, got any ideas?"
Bria finally moved, lifting her head. "You got one?"
Andrew shook his head. "If it were Shirley, you could still wear her down and win her back. She seems like the type who'd give you another chance. But Kaleb... I really can't see him going soft on you. And don't get mad when I say this, but his feelings for you aren't that deep. At least Shirley's known us for almost a year. You've got shared memories, and she values that. Kaleb's not like that. You two clash more than anything; it's always been explosive between you, more resentment than anything else. There's no real foundation, so it's hard to fix."
Bria had expected that answer. "You're such an idiot."
Andrew knew Bria was smart. Both her brothers were exceptional, far from ordinary, and as their sister, no matter how spoiled she was, she wasn't stupid.
And back then, just to keep Ayla, Troy had even ended up with two kids. That was seriously unhinged...
Wait, Andrew looked up. "You're not thinking of copying your brother, are you?"
Bria tore the annoying photo to shreds and shot him a cold look. "Can you try being even more imaginative?"
Andrew let out a breath. "Thank God."
He picked up the torn pieces and tossed them into the trash, then looked at her dark expression. "So you came up with something else?"
Only then did Bria speak. "You can sometimes force a happy ending, right?"
"Holy crap," Andrew said. "You're gonna sleep with him? That's a huge sacrifice."
Bria didn't care. "According to the plan, I was already supposed to date Kaleb. And if you're dating, you're gonna end up in bed sooner or later. I'm just sticking to the original plan. What's the problem?"
Andrew felt like Bria was starting to carry the same unhinged edge as Troy. "Aren't you worried Kaleb's gonna come after you for this?"
"If we've already slept together, who do you think loses more, him or me?" Bria sneered. "If a guy gets what he wants, he should count himself lucky instead of complaining."
As a man, Andrew had no comeback. "I mean, your move does cut straight to the root. It's ruthless."

Andrew couldn't help sighing. Bria has actually fallen for Kaleb.
Every lock has its key, I guess.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
