Divorce me I'm done serving you (Ayla) novel Chapter 875

Since they had been drinking, James called a driver.

Halle sat in the back with him. The moment they got in, he wrapped an arm around her waist and rested his whole head on her shoulder.

James grumbled, "I can't compete with you young, sturdy types. A little alcohol and I'm dizzy. Let me borrow your shoulder."

Halle was speechless for a moment.

"You'd be great at stand-up," Halle said.

"If you like listening, I'll perform just for you." James leaned his whole body practically against her, showing exactly what "clingy" looked like.

Logically, a grown man leaning over should have felt heavy, but Halle barely felt much pressure. She knew he was holding back. He just wanted an excuse for physical contact.

If not for the accident the night Ayla's divorce was finalized—also, the night Halle ended up sleeping with James—she would never have let him push his luck like this.

But they had already slept together, and James was no innocent boy. That night, they had been bold enough that she didn't mind this quite as much now.

James carried a faint, lovely scent. When he came close, paired with his clean, easy presence, the fragrance wasn't cold or sharp. It was like a gentle wind with a trace of coolness.

Being near him felt like a breeze. She liked it very much.

Soon, the car reached their neighborhood.

James suddenly came back to life. "I'll walk you home first."

Halle said, "Didn't you say your son misses me? We should go to your place first and see him."

James replied, "That brat is probably snoring right now. His tiny head doesn't have room for you. Don't get too attached to him."

James took Halle's hand and started walking toward her place.

Halle went silent.

She opened the door, and James, who had claimed he was only seeing her to the door, shamelessly followed her inside.

Halle shot him a look.

James immediately went full rogue. "My lady, I drank, and now I'm so thirsty. Can you pour me a glass of water? Consider it payment for walking you home."

The words "my lady" instantly reminded Halle of the time she got drunk and James took care of her, calling her that over and over. She suspected he was doing it on purpose, choosing a late night like this to stir up old memories.
