Divorce me I'm done serving you (Ayla) novel Chapter 877

Halle had been away on business for several days and hadn't returned to the Bowman residence. At first, Hayley thought the young couple had quarreled, and Halle was avoiding home.

For the first two days, she kept comforting herself that it probably wasn't serious. But nearly a week had passed, and Hayley couldn't sit still anymore.

She called Halle first, and everything about their conversation sounded perfectly normal.

That evening, after Edgar came home and Tyler was in his study, she asked her son what was going on. "I've been holding back for days. Halle hasn't come home for a week. How bad have things gotten between you two? Are you not going to stay together?"

Edgar hadn't seen Halle lately. Whenever he had time, he went to Nina's, and he was in a pretty good mood, so he didn't react as sharply as before. "If we weren't going to be together, why would we move back here to prepare for the wedding?"

Hayley countered, "Then why does Halle leave on a business trip every time you two fight?"

Edgar said, "She's setting up that career-woman image, making herself look capable and impressive. You don't know how much Dad likes this daughter-in-law. All he does is praise her every day."

Hayley froze. "What is that supposed to mean? You're unhappy because Halle is capable? You sound so sour. What kind of man talks like that?"

Edgar didn't care. "Mom, do you look down on me, too? You think I'm not good enough for Halle, don't you?"

Hayley said, "That's not what I mean. If your future partner is outstanding, you should be happy for her from the bottom of your heart. You shouldn't say things like that. If Halle heard you, she'd feel awful."

Edgar rolled his eyes. "Exactly, you said if Halle heard it. If she were here, of course, I wouldn't say this. I'm telling you because you're my mom."

Hayley frowned. She had been around long enough to know that if someone truly respected another person, they wouldn't harbor thoughts like that. Edgar's explanation only made him seem two-faced.

Hayley studied Edgar seriously and suddenly felt like he was a stranger. Was this really her son?

Edgar thought his mother was on his side and had started picking Halle apart.

His original plan was to make Halle jealous, make her give in, make her feel sorry for him, and change for him.

The next step was to drive a wedge between his parents and Halle.

Halle also cared deeply about what his parents thought. If his parents stopped liking her, she would definitely reflect on herself.

Her own biological parents had never loved her, so she treasured his parents even more.
