Ashton stared at Sarah’s superficial smile and let out a soft scoff. This was the harsh reality of the world. Once you became a powerful and capable person, everyone suddenly seemed much kinder.

He didn’t pay her any attention. When it came to the Lowe family’s internal affairs, he had already decided to leave everything to his mother. He had no interest in dealing with such matters himself.

“Let’s go meet up with my mom, Miranda.”

Wrapping an arm around Miranda’s waist, he walked away from Carol and Sarah without sparing them another glance.

“Please take good care of Carol in the future, Ash. We’re all family, after all…” Sarah said, maintaining her bright smile.

Despite being completely ignored by Ashton, she didn’t seem angry or resentful at all.

Carol sniffled softly. She glanced at Scarlett, who looked like a princess, before becoming painfully aware of how alone she was.

She felt incredibly upset and regretful. If she had built a good relationship with Ashton before this, she would probably have everything she had ever dreamed of right now-just like Scarlett.

As the birthday banquet went on, the hall buzzed with laughter and conversation. Then, all of a sudden, an angry voice

“Irene Lowe! You humiliated me when you broke off our engagement. Today, I’m going to make you pay for what you did!”

A wave of semi-divine realm killing intent washed over the crowd. Following a sharp gust of wind, a middle-aged man and a couple of martial arts experts barged straight into the Lowe family’s living room.

The sudden intrusion caught everyone by surprise.

“That’s Xander from the Zimmerman family! What is he doing here?”

“This man was Irene Lowe’s former fiance. When she eloped with another man and cut ties with the Lowe family, he was outraged.

“He swore to drag her back and began to attack the Lowes relentlessly as a form of revenge. He was the main reason their family’s lives fell into a decline.”

“Xander’s killing intent is so powerful! I can’t believe he’s in the semi-divine realm now! Is he here for revenge?”

Xander narrowed his eyes. As his killing intent grew rampant, his gaze swiftly locked onto Irene–the woman who humiliated him years ago.

When Irene fled from their marriage back then, he swore to make her pay for it. Otherwise, he would never be able to move past that grievance.

“Xander Zimmerman! This is my father’s birthday banquet. What do you think you’re doing?” Irene stood up and demanded coldly.

“I see that you’ve finally returned, Irene!” Xander sneered. “That means it’s time for me to fulfill my vow.”

He continued, “Do you know what I swore to do after you ran away? I told myself that I’d drag you back no matter what. Then, I’d make you my servant and keep you as my plaything for the rest of your life!”

Xander cackled. But soon, he began to notice that something was off.

The Lowe family had fallen into a decline. By all logic, there shouldn’t be so many guests at Colton’s birthday banquet. So, why was the room so crowded?

Xander raised his brow and scanned the room. Subsequently, he felt his heart drop.
