“Gnards!” Lauren cried out. She was soaked in cold sweat as a wave of hopelessness washed over her she had just felt the unnistakable sensation of a divine realm expert pinning her down.

“Get out of here and save Queen Eden, Ashton! I’ll stay behind to cover you!” Lauren’s eyes flashed with resolve. She had alreadyi prepared herself for a fight to the death.

A series of deafening explosions rang out, and Lauren’s guards were thrown through the air by a succession of heavy blows, leaving arcs of blood in their wake. It wasn’t long before a squad of formidable assassins descended upon them/effectively surrounding both Lauren and Ashton.

“It’s you!” Lauren felt her heart sink as she recognized the person leading the squad.

She demanded with eyes brimming with fury, “Did Hera send you over, Sadie? What exactly is Hera trying to accomplish?”

“Oh, Lauren. You’re about to die anyway, so I’ll let you in on the secret-Hera will be taking control of Zolane, becoming the Queen of Zolane tonight! You and Eden are done for!” Sadie Youngblood stated coldly. She was Hera’s confidante and had carried out countless tasks for her.

A middle-aged man was standing next to Sadie, dressed in the robes of the Heavenly Medical Pavilion. He glared at Ashton with a chilling gaze and snarled, “You’ll die at my hands today, Ashton!”

There were at least dozens of people standing behind the pair, each of them a transcendent realm expert. Hera and Tobias had prepared thoroughly for this assassination and had no intention of letting Lauren or Ashton escape with their lives.

“You’re actually betraying Queen Eden!” Lauren’s expression grew ashen, her eyes turning bloodshot as she thought of Eden, who was currently undergoing Tobias’ treatment. “How could you do this? How could you turn against Queen Eden when she treated you so well?”

“You want to know why, huh? It’s because we’re tired of living in Eden’s shadow! She deserved to die! You’ve already said your piece, so it’s time for you to die, too! Get them, and leave no survivors!” Sadie barked the order and led the charge toward

Lauren gritted her teeth and took a step back, stating urgently, “Get out of her this instant, Ashton!”

She unleashed the full extent of her semi-divine realm power, attempting to hold back the mob of assassins to buy Ashton some time to flee. She had clearly underestimated the strength of a divine realm expert, though.

Sadie struck out with her palm that carried divine realm power, immediately overwhelming Lauren. She released a force so immense that it shattered Lauren’s power instantly and struck her down onto the earth.

Lauren cried out in agony as the blow landed, her inner energy thrown into chaos. She struggled, but it was all in vain. She slammed hard into the ground, sustaining serious injuries.

“Go to hell!” Sadie showed no restraint. She curled her fingers into a fist and aimed a brutal, decisive blow at the top of Lauren’s head.

Lauren widened his eyes in horror before closing them in despair.

In the nick of time, a figure rushed forward to shield Lauren, conjuring a black barrier between them.

Sadie’s fist slammed into the black barrier with a metallic ring, but it barely left a mark and failed to break through. She was sent stumbling backward a dozen steps instead, her hand throbbing as blood began to leak from her fingers.

“How could this be?” Sadie stared in disbelief. She knew that at point-blank range, no one should have been able to withstand the force of her strike.
