Gene’s eyes were bloodshot. He refused to watch Ashton being taken away without doing anything about it!

After all, Gene had finally managed to be part of the A–ranked experts because of Ashton. And he was the type who would forever remain loyal to the people who helped him.

Conrad cocked an eyebrow at Gene. He knew that he shouldn’t be messing around with people like Gene, but he never thought that Gene would actually defend Ashton. It seemed as though Ashton wasn’t just a nobody without anyone backing him up after all!

Gene continued confidently, “If you dare to lay another finger on Mr. Gray, I don’t mind tearing you down even if it means fighting to my last breath!”

Conrad’s face turned grim. He suppressed the anger in his chest and said, “Then go ahead and try me!”

It was impossible for Conrad to feel threatened at this point. If he backed down now, he would only be embarrassing himself and bruising his own ego. And if his reputation were to disappear, nobody would offer him bribes and favors anymore!

“Chief Nell, I hope that you will release Mr. Gray, for the Holt Crew’s sake! If not, I cannot promise that nothing terrible will not happen to your family,” Louie said, his eyes curved up in crescent shapes despite the chilling glint in them.

The vein in Conrad’s forehead started throbbing wildly. He pointed at Louie with his finger, but he couldn’t deny that he wasn’t scared now. After all, Louie was someone who always dared to do whatever he said with no regard for the law.

Conrad finally realized he had gotten himself involved with people he should never have offended.

“What are you afraid of, Mr. Nell? Have you forgotten what my dad promised you?” Calvin hurriedly said. “Also, if these people dare to cause a scene, we can still get the experts from the Special Forces to kill them all! You’d have accomplished a massive feat then, too!”

If Conrad backed down now, Ashton’s reputation would skyrocket, and if that happened, Evermore Club would only get even more popular than ever! Calvin simply refused to accept that!
