Chapter 149
Roxy suddenly felt as though she’d just been abandoned. However, she had been the one who divorced Ashton back then!
She definitely wasn’t going to beg him one more time.
Her demeanor turned icy cold afterward. Calvin felt his heart sink. He then turned to look at Conrad, pleading for help with his eyes, but Conrad refused to acknowledge him at all.
In fact, Conrad wished that Calvin would continue arguing with Ashton so that he would get severely punished after nearly costing Conrad his life!
“It’s fine if you don’t want to apologize. I won’t force you,” Ashton said, turning to leave.
“I–I’ll do it!”
Calvin gritted his teeth and balled his hands into fists when he saw that Ashton was about to leave. He had no intention of getting locked up in jail! He still needed to conquer Roxy and steal Summit Group away from her!
He was a man, and real men weren’t afraid of a little humiliation!
Calvin took a few deep breaths. Then, he bitterly got down on his knees before Ashton, his eyes bloodshot and defiant as he said, “Ashton, I was wrong for framing you this time.”
“If you know that you’re wrong, then maybe look the part,” Ashton said faintly. “Grovel.”
Calvin’s pupils narrowed at once. “Ashton Gray! You’re going too far!”
“If you don’t grovel, how would I know whether you’re being serious about this apology? Or, maybe you’d prefer spending some time in jail after all,” Ashton teased.
Calvin immediately threw himself at Ashton’s feet and groveled.
Ashton didn’t even bother sparing another glance at Calvin after that. While walking past Roxy, he muttered, ” Guess your first love isn’t as all that as you made him out to be. I don’t think you’ve got very good judgment after all.”
His words were filled with mockery and contempt.
Roxy wanted to retort, but she couldn’t find the right words.
“Let’s go, Mr. Bloomberg,” Ashton said.
Neil nodded and let Ashton lead the way out of the police station.
Conrad and the others also quickly went to see them out, wanting nothing more than to get rid of them quickly.
Meanwhile, Calvin was shaking and seething with anger inside the cell. He couldn’t believe that he’d actually groveled at Ashton’s feet!
He’d also lost count of how many times he’d been slapped in the face because of Ashton. He kept losing to him every single time!
And most infuriatingly, Roxy didn’t even look concerned about him or help him to his feet. Instead, she watched as Ashton walked out of the station, deep in thought.
A long while later, Roxy finally looked away.

Anna spoke up just then. “Ms. Sloan, I already told you earlier that Mr. Gray would never have done anything like that! It was obvious that Calvin had framed him for all those crimes! And look, he even got slapped in the face because of Mr. Gray. How embarrassing is that?
“Are you sure you want to continue being with someone as despicable as him? I really hope you’d think twice about it!”
Anna was Roxy’s secretary after all, and she just couldn’t help trying to talk some sense into her. “Ms. Sloan, didn’t you think that everything went super well for you when you were with Mr. Gray?
“I can tell that he still has some feelings for you. You need to get him back before it’s too late! I think there’s still a chance now. Mr. Gray is very sentimental. But if Sylvia really manages to steal Mr. Gray away, then you won’t even get to regret your decision anymore!”
“It wasn’t because of Ashton that things went well for me before! And don’t bring this topic up ever again!” Roxy said, frowning. She was thoroughly exhausted.
“Roxy! Didn’t you see that? This is how Ashton plans to get revenge on both of us!” Calvin exclaimed harshly as he crawled to his feet.
Anna gave Calvin a sidelong glance. “How could you twist your words like that? You were the one who framed Mr. Gray first! Now look at what you’ve done! Evermore Club will only rise in popularity after this. What about Summit Lounge?
“And what about the ‘gift‘ you said you were going to give Ms. Sloan? Or had you already given it to her in the form of groveling at Mr. Gray’s feet?”
Anna’s words hit the nail on the head, sending Calvin straight to despair.
He glared at her and wished that he could slap her a couple of times to shut her up.
Ultimately, Calvin just growled and said, “Don’t worry, Roxy! I’ll never forgive Ashton for this. I only did what I had to do for the sake of the bigger picture. Just wait for me. I will destroy Ashton, no matter what!”
