Robert snarled, “Mom’s absolutely right, Roxy! You have admirers lining up just to get to know you–not only in Javonbury, but even in Joviana and Montague. You shouldn’t keep them at arm’s length, as meeting them is also a way of building connections.

“I’m so sick of Ashton’s overbearing attitude! He only knows how to charm women! He’d be nothing if you strip him of his women!”

Roxy shook her head in exasperation, saying, “That’s enough, all of you. Ashton and I are still on a mandatory waiting period for the divorce, so I have no intention of meeting anyone new right now.”

Calvin arrived shortly thereafter, displaying great deference as he led Christian to the group. “I’d like you to meet my girlfriend, Roxy Sloan, and her mother, Tanya Forrest. I’d appreciate it if you could examine her and address the stomach condition that has plagued her for more than ten years, Dr. Donahue!”

Upon seeing Christian, Roxy’s emotions surged. She then said earnestly, “Please help my mother with her stomach condition, Dr. Donahue.”

“I have a long–standing relationship with Emerson Group, and given that you’re Calvin’s girlfriend, I’d never turn my back on your mother in her time of need, Ms. Sloan,” Christian explained before he instructed Tanya to offer her left arm.

He then slowly inserted a silver needle into the acupoint, his fingers twisting it gently. His expression gradually turned grave as he worked on the acupuncture.

Roxy’s heart pounded in her chest, asking, “Is there any way to treat my mother’s stomach condition, Dr. Donahue?”

Calvin chimed in, saying, “You have to do everything you can, Dr. Donahue, as this person means a lot to me!”

Christian removed the silver needle a few moments later, then stated gravely, “Mrs. Sloan’s stomach has suffered irreparable, catastrophic damage and has progressed to a terminal condition!”

“W–What?”

Upon hearing that, both Tanya and Roxy were seized by instant, blinding shock, and their vision tunneled.

Calvin asked anxiously, “Is there truly nothing that can be done, even by you, Dr. Donahue?”

Christian shook his head, replying, “I can only ease Mrs. Sloan’s stomach pain for now. I believe that the only hope rests with my mentor, who must employ the Ninefold Arcane Technique for total recovery.”

“You actually have a mentor, Dr. Donahue?”

Calvin was dumbfounded. He understood that in the discipline of medicine, lineage and mentorship are paramount. He couldn’t help but wonder who could possess the skill and qualification to teach someone as accomplished as Christian.

Christian’s expression swelled with pride as he spoke of his mentor. “I have merely been accepted as a nominal mentee at the moment!”

Tanya nodded repeatedly, exclaiming, “Thank you so much, Dr. Donahue!”

It was ten minutes later when Christian completed the acupuncture treatment.

Tanya, whose face had been pale, exhaled heavily after the treatment. She experienced a feeling of profound relief she hadn’t known in ages as a healthy flush returned to her cheeks and the agonizing cramping in her stomach subsided dramatically.

She then beamed at Roxy, exclaiming, “I don’t feel that much pain anymore, Roxy! Dr. Donahue’s fame is entirely justified!”

Roxy finally loosened up, her body no longer stiff with tension. She had been worried that if Tanya’s stomach condition remained unresolved, she would have no choice but to seek Ashton for help.
