“What do you mean by that, Mr. Suther? How dare you refuse my request when all I wanted to do was incapacitate that man?” Damian roared in fury.
“You’re no longer welcome here, so please leave, Mr. Payinel” Cadence flatly refused an explanation and instead issued a direct order for him to leave the premises, much to Damian’s utter surprise.
How was this any different from a deliberate and public humillation?
Damian’s expression immediately hardened. “Do you know what you’re saying, Mr. Suther? If memory serves, there exists a vital alliance between the Payne family and the Gale Assembly! Are you prepared to make an enemy of the Payne family over a single, worthless individual, Mr. Suther?”
“Mr. Gray is hardly insignificant, Mr. Payne. He is an individual of greater standing than you, so please leave the premises this instant!” Cadence delivered his statement with extreme resolve, instantly clarifying his allegiance without any equivocation.
Those on the scene immediately gasped in collective shock.
They understood that the Gale Assembly operated strictly on self–interest, and its head, Cadence, was known for being exceptionally shrewd. Therefore, it was logically inconceivable that he would risk provoking Damian, the most distinguished scion in Javonbury, on behalf of Ashton.
Yet, Cadence performed the exact opposite of what was anticipated.
In that instant, the crowd’s gaze shifted to Ashton, each harboring a deep curiosity regarding his identity and background.
Nicholas directed a questioning look toward Damian, thinking that crippling Ashton on the spot would be far from easy with Cadence’s intervention.
Damian’s eyes narrowed dangerously. He deliberated for what seemed like an eternity, then said with a chilling finality, “I’ll extend my courtesy and refrain from violence at Auric Night since this happens to be your turf, Mr. Suther.”
He then glared maliciously at Ashton before stating coldly, “Let’s wait for Ashton outside so that you can break his legs the instant he crosses the threshold, Nicholas!”
Having said that, Damian turned on his heel and strode away.
Damian and Nicholas were about to leave when Ashton’s voice rang out. “Hold it!”
Damian turned around and glared at Ashton before asking coldly, “What’s the matter? Do you wish to grovel before me and beg for forgiveness? You should go ahead and do it, then! I’ll grant you the privilege, Ashton!”
“Do you even merit my submission?” Ashton retorted as he relinquished his embrace of Sylvia.
He advanced steadily toward Damian, emitting an overwhelming, terrifying force that settled over Damian.
In that instant, Damian felt himself plummeting into an icy chasm, engulfed by a deep, penetrating cold. He was seized by a profound, soul–deep fear, as if he had been marked for execution. He immediately cowered, instinctively seeking refuge behind Nicholas. “N–Nicholas…”

“Hold it!” Nicholas moved to intercept Ashton, his expression turning grim.
The sheer killing intent radiating from Ashton triggered a powerful, alarming sense of crisis within him as well.
“Get out of the way!” Ashton bellowed, not even sparing Nicholas a glance.
He unleashed a backhand strike that came with the force of a gale that stripped the trees bare.
Nicholas‘ concentrated power was instantly obliterated before he was sent hurtling through the air.
In a blur of motion, Ashton stood directly before Damian. He clamped a merciless grip around Damian’s neck and hoisted him off the floor, asking, “You delivered a torrent of threats, yet thought you could simply walk away, huh? What do you take me for, huh?”
Damian, with Ashton’s hand clamped around his neck, thrashed his legs violently, desperately fighting to break free. His breathing was labored and shallow while yelling, “Y–You’d better release me at once, Ashton! Do you have any idea who I am? I-”
Without waiting for Damian to finish his sentence, Ashton hoisted him above his head and violently smashed him onto the floor. “You’re nothing but a piece of trash!”
