Ashton found that Kayla’s cheeks were delicate and soft, offering a wonderfully smooth senation against the hand.

Kayla’s breathing grew ragged as she felt the heat radiating from Ashton’s hand. She felt as if Ashton was nothing less than a beast on the verge of eruption. “H–Hold it!”

She was overwhelmed with panic. She tried to push Ashton away, but he was pressing her firmly against the bed

“Why should I stop? You were the one who told me that I’d miss my chance if I didn’t act tonight! I’ll gladly oblige and honor your deadline, then, since you seemed so eager to offer yourself to me!” Ashton roared as he yielded to his basal instincts, tearing half of Kayla’s clothing apart.

Kayla yelped in absolute terror, pleading desperately, “I take it back–the promise is still binding, but it doesn’t have to happen tonight, so please calm yourself, Ashton!”

She was consumed by intense regret. She should never have gambled with such high stakes. She had foolishly believed she could control Ashton, never realizing that she had been the pawn in his hands all along,

Ashton fixed his gaze on Kayla, his eyes betraying a furious internal struggle. He was seized by the Drakell technique to plunder Kayla and claim her completely, but his reason held him back Lawrence was like a father figure to him, after all.

He could administer a harsh lesson, but that was the limit–he couldn’t actually harm Kayla.

“I’m going to make you back down sooner or later!” Kayla mused inwardly as she stole a quick glance at Ashton

She then settled down nearby, deliberately keeping her distance, as she was terrified that he would abruptly resume his predatory attack.

It was an hour later when Ashton woke up, his entire being recharged. He stared at Kayla with a definite look of regret in his eyes.

“What do you think you’re looking at!” Kayla bellowed.

She suddenly realized her clothes were still torn and disheveled, revealing her delicate, flawless skin, which was undeniably tempting.

Ashton averted his gaze and said, “It’s time to go see Mr. Clark Senior.”

Kayla nodded before saying, “You are forbidden to mention anything that occurred tonight to Grandpa. Is that clear?”

Ashton remained silent.

Kayla added, “You can also rest assured that I’ll honor my promise the moment you have completely cured Grandpa, so you must do everything you can to save him!”

Ashton regarded Kayla’s flustered, flushed face, then said with a chuckle, “You’d better keep your promise and try to work on that temper of yours.”

Kayla merely snorted lightly before falling silent.

It was 20 minutes later when Ashton and Kayla arrived at Lawrence’s residence.

“You’re finally here, Ash!” Lawrence, looking in good spirits, greeted him with a cheerful smile.

Christian, who was off to the side, had already prepared the silver needles, awaiting Ashton with utmost

reverence.

He then said in a voice thick with emotion, “It is my great honor to witness the Ninefold Arcane Technique once more, Mr. Gray! I have ceaselessly pored over your teachings and have achieved some results, finally recognizing how trivial my prior medical knowledge was.”

He kept his head bowed and treated Ashton with utmost respect, recognizing him as his mentor for life. Ashton had merely shared a few entry–level techniques of the Ninefold Arcane Technique, yet that preliminary teaching was sufficient to earn him his absolute, unwavering adoration.

“Please lie down, Mr. Clarkson Senior,” Ashton said.

He then proceeded to perform the acupuncture with practiced ease, further stabilizing Lawrence’s previous injuries and guiding his body into a steady, restorative rhythm.

It would still take Lawrence a considerable amount of time to achieve full recovery, though. His body was extensively damaged, and certain injuries harbored residual, deadly energies that precluded any quick fix.

“I feel so invigorated, Ash! I feel as if I can return to the battlefield and strike down the enemies!” Lawrence declared enthusiastically.
