Chapter 428
“I see…” Ashton muttered, his gaze drifting over Elise and the rest of the women. He finally understood why Blossom Hall, under Elise’s command, was serving the Sage.
“You may not understand how terrifying the Heart–Devouring Parasite is, Mr. Gray. You see, once it acts up, it feels as though a thousand needles are skewering your body and soul at once.
“It’s an agony so profound that once you’ve tasted it, you would do anything to avoid it again. It is because of that that we can’t risk betraying the Sage.
“It was his idea to move against you, not ours, so please forgive us, Mr. Gray. I’m yours to do with as you please, as a form of compensation for our wrongdoings earlier.”
Whitney, fearing that Ashton would decline her proposal, added, “I’m also still a virgin, Mr. Gray.”
Having said that, Whitney blushed slightly.
“I’ll go with you instead, so please spare the others from Blossom Hall, Mr. Gray,” Elise suddenly declared, letting out a faint sigh.
“You can’t do that, Elise!” Whitney interjected in a hurry.
“I’m the head of Blossom Hall, and as the one in charge, I should be the one to answer for offending Mr. Gray,” Elise said with a faint smile.
Whitney frantically shook her head. “If the Sage were to discover this-”
“I’ll keep it hidden from him,” Elise said, cutting Whitney off.
She turned to smile at Ashton, looking incredibly bewitching as she asked, “Do you wish to remain in the Blossom Hall, or would you like to go to whatever place you specify, Mr. Gray?”
Upon seeing Elise’s hollow gaze and taking in her flawless face and incredibly curvaceous figure, Ashton couldn’t help but show a trace of helplessness. He felt as though he had been forced into the role of the antagonist, even though Whitney and Elise were the ones who had attacked him first.
He forcefully reined in his overwhelming desire for Elise and said with a chuckle, “I’ve heard of this Heart- Devouring Parasite before this. Isn’t that something the Jalunese created? How did it come to be in the Sage’s hands?”
Elise replied softly, “It’s because the ones backing the Sage are the Jalunese!”
“Huh?”
?” Ashton’s eyes blazed, cold, sharp glints suddenly flashing from within them.
He felt a visceral, almost biological revulsion toward the Jalunese as a Casorian, since their two nations had long been rivals and enemies.
Yet now, the revelation that the Sage was conspiring with them changed everything–it was no longer a personal feud, but a matter of national honor.
If the Sage, the ruler of the criminal underworld of Javonbury, had been funneling resources to the Jalunese, his crimes were beyond forgiveness.

“I can liberate you guys from the Heart–Devouring Parasite,” Ashton declared solemnly, looking directly at Elise.
“W–What did you just say?” Elise reacted with a start, a brief look of hope appearing in her eyes before she dismissed the possibility.
She shook her head in resignation, saying, “It’s useless, Mr. Gray. You see, we’ve tried everything and consulted countless brilliant doctors, yet nothing worked.
“It is said that once the Heart–Devouring Parasite is implanted, it’ll integrate itself into the host’s body. It is impossible to remove, leaving us permanently under the Sage’s control.”
Elise’s eyes revealed a look of heartbreaking grief. She had once been the most beautiful woman in Javonbury, pursued by many and blessed with extraordinary cultivation talent. She had founded Blossom Hall herself, intending to offer a safe haven for women in need.
Elise was a woman of boundless ambition and intoxicating grace back then, with a bright future ahead of her. That was until she met the Sage, who forcibly implanted the Heart–Devouring Parasite. That forced her to become the Sage’s apparent lover, dragging her into an inescapable nightmare.
Ashton chuckled faintly. “How will you know unless we try? Are you guys willing to submit to me as long as I’m able to release you from the Heart–Devouring Parasite? I naturally have no intention of keeping you guys on a leash as the Sage does–you’ll retain a measure of freedom.”
Upon hearing that, a wave of visible emotion swept through the women of the Blossom Hall.
They all bore the curse of the Heart–Devouring Parasite, forced to endure monthly agonies so profound that death seemed a mercy by comparison. They were willing to offer everything they had if they could be liberated from the Heart–Devouring Parasite.
Elise studied Ashton’s solemn expression, and once she was certain he was in earnest, she stated solemnly, “If you can truly free us from the control of the Heart–Devouring Parasite, I’ll accept every condition you set, Mr. Gray. You’ll also become the owner of Blossom Hall from now on!”
“You’d better not lie to us, raising our hopes only to dash them!” Whitney stared blankly at Ashton, her voice trembling with a complex mix of fear and longing.
In the meantime, a ripple of expectant energy surged through the women of Blossom Hall, with some even casting bold, flirtatious glances Ashton’s way.
If they were to set everything aside, Ashton was far better looking than the Sage, and the feeling Ashton gave people was not at all unpleasant.
On the contrary, he possessed a mysterious, special charm that was quite captivating.
“You said it yourself–if I save you all, then I am the owner of Blossom Hall! Who wants to go first, then?” Ashton asked with a smile.
