“Wanda, what are you even saying?” A blush spread across Nadine’s face, leaving it warm. She didn’t dare meet Ashton’s eyes as she hastily explained, “This is my mentor, Ashton Gray. I’m learning medicine from him!”
“Your mentor? Uh, what?” Wanda’s lips parted in surprise, as if she couldn’t believe she’d just heard Nadine say that.
Her gaze roamed over Ashton curiously. “Mr. Gray, if you’ve got Nadine, the divine doctor, apprenticing under you, then your medical skills must be pretty impressive, right?”
“Of course!” Nadine lifted her chin proudly. “Master Gray’s skill is far beyond mine. By the way, didn’t you have that lingering injury that never healed and keeps nagging at you, Wanda? Maybe Master Gray has a way to fix it.”
Wanda shook her head. “It’s an old problem. I’ve seen plenty of famous physicians, and none of them could help. There’s no need to trouble Mr. Gray.”
Seeing how young Ashton was, Wanda assumed he’d sweet talked Nadine into admiring him. She didn’t believe he had some astonishing mastery of medicine. She figured it was just Nadine being too naive and too easy to fool.
On the surface, though, Wanda showed no disdain. Instead, she asked, “Nadine, you didn’t come to see me just to have Mr. Gray treat me, did you?”
Nadine noticed Wanda’s faint condescension toward Ashton, and her expression soured. She gave a soft huff as she handed over the bottles containing the three pills to Wanda. With pride, she said, “These are Master Gray’s creations–a Breakthrough Pill, a Rejuvenation Pill, and an Energy Condensation Pill.
“We’re planning to auction them at the Curios Chamber tonight to trade for rare herbs and ingredients. You have to fetch a great price for them!”
Wanda didn’t think much of the pills as she took the three bottles. She smiled and said, “These three pills aren’t particularly unusual, so it might be hard to get a high price. Still, since you’re asking, I’ll do my best.”
“Wanda, at least look at them before you decide.” Nadine huffed again, already eager to see Wanda’s shocked expression. Anyone who dared look down on Ashton would eventually be proven wrong!
“Could these pills be special in some way?” Wanda’s interest was piqued now. She first poured the Breakthrough Pill into her palm.
In an instant, a golden, gleaming pill lay in her hand. A rich, heady fragrance rose off it, enveloping her. Her eyes widened; the faint smile and trace of dismissal vanished. Her face grew solemn, and even her breathing quickened. She pressed her lips together and swallowed, her body shuddering slightly. Her chest rose and fell sharply as a storm surged inside her.
As the head of the Curios Chamber’s Javonbury branch, Wanda was no lightweight. She herself was an SSS–ranked transcendent realm expert and a true connoisseur of pills.
“This pill fragrance, and the pill seals… Even among top–grade pills, this is a standout.” Her eyes widened further, and she cradled the Breakthrough Pill like it was a treasure. The longer she studied it, the more astonished she became. “Did Mr. Gray really refine this?”
Her tone when addressing Ashton had already gone from slightly condescending to absolutely respectful. Anyone who could refine a pill of this caliber deserved that!
“Of course! Master Gray is impressive, isn’t he?” Nadine felt a rush of satisfaction when she saw how stunned Wanda was.
“Impressive doesn’t begin to cover it.” Wanda was a little breathless. “Don’t tell me the other bottles hold top-

grade pills, too.”
“That’s right.” Nadine held her head high. “Master Gray can refine more than one kind of top–tier pill!”
Wanda gave Ashton a long, steady look. He was so young, yet he was capable of producing three different top- grade pills. The implications were terrifying.
She carefully drew out the Rejuvenation Pill and the Energy Condensation Pill. As she inhaled their fragrance and studied the intricate seals, her heart thudded hard in her chest.
