Chapter 529
Cold sweat began to form on Buford’s palms.
Feeling a deep sense of danger, he kept waving his hands around to manipulate the cloud of poison, making it swirl around Ashton to lock him up and devour his body.
“Die! Die, you bastard!” Buford hollered, his expression manic.
The operations at this base were the result of his painstaking efforts over the last three years. He’d concocted numerous poison gases and pills during this time. As long as he could deliver them back to Jalun for mass production, he would definitely make Casoria pay a devastating price!
Ashton paused to look at the poison coiling around his body. He watched as the black lines continued to spread across his skin.
Glancing coldly at Buford, he questioned, “You really think the poison you created can hurt me?”
“Why not?” Buford sneered. “Who do you think you are? Do you think you’re immune to all poisons? You’re nowhere near capable of that yet!”
His face was completely twisted, making him look even more grotesque. “Even a bastard like you, the so–called Lord Reaper, will die from my poison!
“Haven’t you realized that your entire body is turning black? That’s the sign the poison has activated inside your body. Soon, your flesh will begin to rot!”
“Do you think some lousy, poisonous gas is enough to take hold of my body?”
Ashton scoffed as his body tensed up, and a layer of dark flames swiftly covered his entire skin, burning intensely with him in the center. The black lines swiftly vanished, and his skin soon began to glow in a way that made him look ethereal.
“How could it be… You…”
Buford’s heart fell to the depths as he stared at Ashton, who looked like a grim reaper to him. He’d never met someone who could wipe out his poison like that before.
“That energy… It’s the energy of the Drakeborne lineage!”
Buford’s eyes widened in horror, looking as though he’d met his mortal enemy.
As he hurriedly backed away, he mumbled to himself, “Those of the Drakeborne lineage are immune to all poison and techniques… But no! Why is the energy you give off even more terrifying than that of the ordinary Drakeborne lineage? Just who are you?”
“I am the Grim Reaper, and I’ve come to take the lives of you Jalunese monsters.”
Ashton raised an eyebrow. He hadn’t expected Buford to actually sense the Drakeborne lineage within him. It was a reminder for him to be more careful when he used its powers from now on.
In an instant, Ashton shot forward to resume his slaughter.
Within moments, following the howls of agony that rang out, the Jalunese experts who’d surrounded Ashton

had all died. A river of blood ran through the abbey, making it look like the depths of hell instead.
Eunice stared at Ashton in a daze, feeling completely mesmerized by him. She couldn’t imagine what would have happened to her, Hector, and the other legionnaires if he hadn’t shown up tonight.
“It’s your turn now.”
Ashton’s gaze became even more murderous. The previous slaughter was just a warm–up for him. Now that he’d flexed his muscles a bit, he looked around, only to find that he no longer had any other opponents left.
He had no choice but to hope that Buford, the bastard who dared to use Casoria as his base for creating poisons, would be strong enough to let him enjoy the fight a bit more.
Buford kept retreating, only to suddenly realize that Ashton had cut off all the escape routes. His eyes flash viciously. He knew that his only shot at survival was to risk his life to take Ashton down.
Letting out a furious roar, he released his inner energy, letting it blend with the poison in the air to form a murderous force that shot toward Ashton.
However, Ashton simply threw out his Lightning Strike.
As the lightning fell, all of Buford’s force and poison immediately crumbled, unable to withstand the might of Ashton’s attack.
In the blink of an eye, Ashton appeared in front of Buford. His voice was deadly as he growled, “Who gave you the nerve to come to Casoria and make your poisons here? Who gave you the audacity to hurt my legionnaires? Are you aware of just how gruesome your death is going to be?”
Dark flames burned even more strongly in Ashton’s eyes as he threw a series of ten punches at Buford.
