Sally stepped back before Niall could finish, putting some space between them.

His gaze turned cold. He tipped back his liquor, a feral grin spreading across his face. “It’s good that you’ve got a boyfriend. Bring him here and let us meet him! We’ll help you vet him.”

“Yeah. Tell your boyfriend to come over. We’re all really excited right now.” A rich kid laughed sinisterly while roughly tearing at a woman’s clothes.

“Sally, is your boyfriend handsome? Hurry up and tell him to come so I can see!” A fashionably dressed woman lazily blew a smoke ring, her gaze hazy.

The jeering didn’t stop.

The looks on the rich kids‘ faces became more twisted by the minute, and a few women’s screams cut through the noise. The scene made Sally’s fear spike.

This party reeked of danger. These people were clearly out of control–they were high and spiraling.

“I really need to go.” Sally stood to leave.

But the next second, Niall spread his arms and leered, fixing his drunken gaze on her. He licked his dry lips and pointed toward the guys who were still going wild. “Sally, I’ve wanted you for a long time. Everybody’s letting loose tonight, so keep me company!”

His Adam’s apple bobbed as he spoke, and he excitedly lunged for her. Suddenly, the door creaked and swung open, making him stop.

It was Ashton. In an instant, every head snapped toward the uninvited guest.

He crooked a finger at Sally. She tottered toward him on her heels, throwing herself into his arms like a frightened doe. She clung to him tightly, trembling all over.

Niall’s eyes blazed with rage as he watched the woman he’d set his sights on snuggle obediently into another man’s embrace. With a look, he signaled someone to shut the door. He asked icily, “You’re the boyfriend Sally mentioned?”

Sally jolted at that. She didn’t dare meet Ashton’s eyes–she just pressed herself even closer against him. She was only his lover, after all.

“Yeah, I am.” Ashton smiled faintly, his cold gaze sweeping across the obscene chaos. A flicker of killing intent sparked in his eyes. These rich kids weren’t just high–they were going way too far.

“Then sit.” Niall’s tone carried a threat. “We’re all dying to know what Sally’s boyfriend can do. What is it about you that would make her choose you instead of me?”

“Ashton…” Sally’s voice shook. She was afraid she’d dragged him into trouble.

He kissed her forehead as everyone watched and wrapped an arm around her waist. Then, he found a spot, sat down, and pulled her onto his lap. He held her close and looked around at the pack of spoiled heirs with a slightly disdainful smile.
