Chapter 619
The outcome of the match left the Dominion Vanguard devastated.
“Clay is the future head of the Dominion Vanguard–a prodigy of our generation—and the most powerful transcendent realm fighter in history. How could he be defeated so easily?
“He was utterly crushed. Even after resorting to underhanded tactics, he still couldn’t beat Ashton! This is unbelievable. This match is bound to stir up a storm. Maybe it’s time we reevaluate the Dominion Vanguard and the Legion!”
“Is everything over? How can this happen?”
“It’s a miracle!”
“It’s doomed… The money that I’ve wagered is all gone!”
“Clay lost…”
“I can’t believe Ashton won.”
Everyone in the arena was stunned. Their faces were pale, and they looked listless.
The vanguards looked utterly devastated. They couldn’t bear to glance at their flag. Under the flag of the Northern Troops, it now appeared dull and insignificant.
The Dominion Vanguard had suffered a total loss. To make matters worse, they couldn’t even come up with a single excuse to absolve Clay of his defeat. Ashton had won the match by a landslide.
“What now, sir?”
Ronan’s eyes were laced with malice. In a low voice, he growled, “We can’t let Ashton leave the combat arena alive. We’ll only be able to turn things around when he’s dead.”
Alarmed by what she had just heard, Leona hastily said, “We can’t keep going down the wrong path, Mr. Lademan. Clay might’ve lost the match, but he also brought our flaws to our attention.”
She continued, “We were way too full of ourselves! We can use this opportunity to motivate the vanguards to work on themselves. We should learn from our mistakes!”
Maxwell was silent. He glanced at Clay, who was lying in a pool of blood, before he looked over at Ashton. It was impossible to
tell what he was thinking.
Unlike the Dominion Vanguard, the members of the Legion were overjoyed. Delighted by Ashton’s win, they pumped their fists into the air and finally released all the pent–up frustration they had been bottling up.
Every single one of them looked at Ashton with pride and gratitude. He hadn’t just preserved their honor–he had managed to restore the legionnaire’s reputation.
“Ashton won, Grandpa! He actually won!” Kayla exclaimed ecstatically.
Her eyes were brimming with tears, and she could barely contain her excitement.
Ever since Ashton joined the Legion, the organization felt like it had been given a fresh start. The frustration and humiliation they endured in the past had seemingly vanished overnight. Through Ashton, the legionnaires were able to showcase their pride and ambitions.
“Mr. Clarkson Senior! Ashton truly reminds me of you when you were younger,” Neil said as he made his way over to Lawrence.
Lawrence burst into laughter. “This kid is a lot gutsier than I was! He defeated a semi–divine realm opponent as a mere transcendent realm fighter. This battle is going to be documented in history!”
