Chapter 626
“If only Mr. Clarkson Senior could stay at his peak forever.”
“Maybe, this is the Legion’s last moment of glory.”
“He’s really getting old.”
“Look! He’s moving. What is he trying to do now? That direction… He’s heading straight toward Maxwell, the head of the Dominion Vanguard. Is he really going to make a move on him?”
The instant Lawrence took a step, everyone’s frozen hearts started pounding again.
“He wouldn’t, right? The Dominion Vanguard is at its peak. If Mr. Clarkson Senior were to make a move now, and with Ashton having just defeated Clay, the two sides would be locked in a fight to the death.”
“From what I know about him, he always puts the bigger picture first. The Dominion Vanguard plays a major role in the country right now. There’s no way he’d start an internal war that would only tear the country apart.”
“It’s hard to say. This is the first time I’ve ever felt such terrifying killing intent from him. He’s genuinely furious.”
“What exactly is he planning?”
“Hmph! Mr. Clarkson Senior had better not look too highly of himself. He’s no longer the invincible man he used to be. After all, Maxwell is in his prime. If Mr. Clarkson Senior loses, it’ll be a total disgrace. His reputation won’t survive it.”
“Never thought today’s life–or–death match would twist like this. I have no idea how it’ll end.”
Everyone’s nerves were stretched to the breaking point.
“Mr. Clarkson Senior…” Ashton called out, moving to stabilize him with the Ninefold Arcane Technique.
He stood nearest Lawrence, fully aware of just how battered his body was.
“Ash, don’t worry,” Lawrence said calmly. “Since I finally used the strength I’ve been storing these past years, there’s no way I’d waste it on just killing one bastard. That would be a shame. Once I deal with Maxwell, you can do whatever you want with my body.”
He turned back with a proud grin. “Watch carefully. This is a lesson I’m teaching you. How much you pick up is on you.”
His body shuddered, and raw power tore out like a tornado into the sky. In an instant, his once–hunched posture straightened, the deep wrinkles on his face smoothed slightly, and streaks of black returned to his gray hair.
Ashton’s heart sank, knowing that Lawrence was burning his own life force to hold this level of power. He wanted to stop him, but the moment Lawrence killed Kayden, it had already been too late. After all, Lawrence had made his choice.
“Stubborn old fool…” Ashton muttered, clenching his fists, and a bitter ache colid in his chest.
If only he were powerful enough, Lawrence wouldn’t have to step in to protect him earlier. The urge to grow, to push himself further, roared through him, hot and unrelenting. In this world, power was all that mattered, and it was the only thing that
lasted.
